The information has been collected from Visit Dalarna, Dalarna Museum, Wikipedia and newspaper articles as well as from the two manufacturers of Dala horses in Nusn\u00e4s: Nils Olsson Dalah\u00e4star and Grannas A Olsson Hemsl\u00f6jd. The Dala horse comes from Mora<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 18th century, people in the villages around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedomtravel.se\/en\/2024\/07\/gora-i-mora\/\">Mora<\/a> carve wooden horses, and the oldest Dala horses are even older than that. In the 19th century, horses got their pattern<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 1830s, horses began to be painted and given the beautiful pattern for which they are so well known today. The pattern is called mug painting and is closely related to kurbits. However, one of the producers in Nusn\u00e4s replied that they can certainly produce large quantities, if the planning is good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-23-dalahasten-ar-inte-varumarkesskyddad\">23. The Dala horse is not a trade mark.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selling a handmade wooden horse painted as a Dala horse is not illegal. The Dala horse as a symbol is not patent protected. The reason, according to the Swedish Patent and Registration Office, is that it is not possible to protect the design of the horse because the shape is not unique. The pattern is also traditional and has no author. But even if there had been an author, the copyright would have expired, as it is only valid for 70 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-24-originaltillverkarna-uppskattar-dalahastrelaterade-produkter-sa-lange-det-inte-ar-trahastar\">24. Original manufacturers appreciate Dala horse-related products ... as long as they are not wooden horses.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In another <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.svt.se\/nyheter\/lokalt\/dalarna\/har-saljs-handgjorda-dalahastar-fran-kina-i-svenska-butiker\" target=\"_blank\">article in SVT Nyheter<\/a> Christina Liljegren of Grannas Hemsl\u00f6jd in Nusn\u00e4s says that they are basically happy for others to make Dalarna-related products, as long as they are not wooden horses. \"It's great fun when you find the pattern on hats, fabrics and other things\". <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-25-dalahast-heter-dala-horse-eller-dalecarlian-horse-pa-engelska\">25.
