At the Landungsbr\u00fccken, ferries, sightseeing boats and port traffic meet, while people stroll along the quays and sit down for something to eat or drink. Take a boat trip through the port of Hamburg<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hamburg changes when you see the city from the water. We went on a harbor tour that took us past both the historic parts and the modern, working harbor with cranes, shipyards and huge ships. If you want to experience the warehouse city from the water, it is therefore a good idea to ask which route applies before buying a ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our experience: <\/strong>Choose a tour that includes a guide and take the harbor tour early in your visit to Hamburg. Walk under the Elbe through the Alter Elbtunnel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Landungsbr\u00fccken you can do something quite unusual \u2013 take&nbsp;<strong>under the Elbe River on foot<\/strong>. The tiled walls, the old elevators, and the feeling of knowing that large ships can pass on the Elbe above our heads make the walk much more enjoyable than a \u201dfoot tunnel\u201d might sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you come out on the other side, it&#039;s worth continuing a little further. Discover St. Pauli and the Reeperbahn<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">St. Pauli shows a completely different side of Hamburg. Here, bars, clubs, theaters, live music and football mix with the famous \u2013 and infamous \u2013 nightlife of the Reeperbahn. The neon signs light up, people fill the streets and music can be heard from bars and clubs. From the viewing platform in the tower, you get a panoramic view of Hamburg with the harbor, the Elbe, the Speicherstadt and the city&#039;s rooftops far below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can take the elevator for a large part of the way up, but if you want, you can also choose the stairs. The view is also a fun way to revisit several of the places you have already discovered down on the ground. It was built as an air raid shelter and bomb shelter, but in recent years it has been given a whole new lease of life. If you want to be close to the classic sights, the harbor and the Speicherstadt, HafenCity is a good choice, while St. Pauli is better for nightlife and Sternschanze for restaurants and more relaxed neighborhoods. Here are four areas to look at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HAFENCITY \u2013 CLOSE TO THE HARBOR AND SPEICHTERSTADT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HafenCity is perfect for those who want to live close to some of Hamburg&#039;s biggest attractions. From here you are within walking distance of the Speicherstadt, Elbphilharmonie and Miniatur Wunderland, while the harbor is always nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We stayed three nights at the Pierdrei Hotel in HafenCity.<\/strong>&nbsp;and found the location to be excellent for exploring Hamburg on foot. It is a practical choice for a first visit and public transport makes it easy to get to other parts of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ST.
