Experience the spa feeling at Kallbadhuset<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Havsbad area in Lysekil tells the story of an era when society flocked to Lysekil for health-giving spas. It was in the middle of the 19th century that Havsbadet in Lysekil was founded by doctor John Gabriel Moll\u00e9n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After Moll\u00e9n's death, the spa doctor Carl Curman took over and was commissioned to build a new bathing facility. We popped in for a visit, and it turned out that a new exhibition was just being shown, with an artist having his very first exhibition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The artist, Emir \"Yinzu\" Sipic, was there and we had a very nice chat. We were actually looking for this, but suspect that it was another octopus we found, hidden in a pot. Above the aquarium it was written \"vortex octopus\", which is an eight-armed octopus. Fortunately, Calla Curman, the wife of Carl Curman, a spa doctor, was concerned about the destruction and between 1916 and 1920 she bought most of the remaining natural area. Then you can take a ride on the City train. The train gets on and off at S\u00f6dra Hamnen, and there are another 12 places to get on and off along the tour. Fiskeb\u00e4ckskil is a picturesque little town, with a history as both a fishing village and a seaside resort. Check out the carvings at L\u00e5ngevik.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are plenty of \"real\" rock carvings in Bohusl\u00e4n, i.e. carvings that date back to the Bronze Age. In Lysekil, however, there are also some carvings from a completely different time in history, namely from 1914.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was the then 15-year-old boys, Sven H\u00e5rd and Just Malmstr\u00f6m, who carved the pictures while dreaming of America. During this time, jobs were scarce in the area around Lysekil, and many people fantasised about something better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both eventually made it across the Atlantic, but their works are also preserved here, on a number of rock walls in Lysekil. Scribbles, graffiti, art or rock carvings? Well, that's for everyone to decide. See the Backa rock carvings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Brastad, about 17 kilometres from Lysekil, you will find the Backa rock carvings. Within a distance of one kilometre there are over 30 carvings from the Bronze Age (1700 - 500 BC), which have been given the name \"Via Sacra\" (the holy road). Here you can see carvings depicting, among other things, solar tripods (a sun mounted on a stand), two-wheeled chariots, horses and agricultural tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A visit here is really interesting and there are car parks at the two main sites. No one knows today why the carving was given this name, but perhaps someone perceived the axe as a shoemaker's hammer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, it is probably a predecessor of the weather god Thor who is depicted with his hammer. This is located just beyond the car park <strong>Fish harbour<\/strong> (Bang\u00e5rdsgatan 1), but still within easy walking distance of the harbour and the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We found this to be an excellent site where we had access to electricity, toilets and showers and a fresh emptying station with both grey water drainage and CamperClean for emptying the toilet cassette. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to these sites, there are more sites where you can stay overnight with your motorhome. Then you have time to experience St\u00e5ngehuvud, Gamlestan and Havets Hus without stress and also go swimming or take a boat trip. If you have another day, you can take the ferry over to Skaft\u00f6 and visit Fiskeb\u00e4ckskil and Grundsund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can you do in Lysekil with children?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Havets Hus is one of the obvious destinations for families with children, with around thirty aquariums where you can discover life under the surface of the North Sea. Pinneviksbadet is also good for children with its sandy beach and shallow bottom, and at St\u00e5ngehuvud there are plenty of cliffs and nature to explore. Crab fishing is of course also a West Coast classic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can you take a ferry from Lysekil to Fiskeb\u00e4ckskil?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, there is a ferry between Lysekil and Fiskeb\u00e4ckskil on Skaft\u00f6. This makes it easy to combine Lysekil with a trip to Fiskeb\u00e4ckskil and on to Grundsund. Skaft\u00f6 is perfect if you want to continue with small fishing communities, boathouses, swimming and even more of the Bohusl\u00e4n coastal environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where can you park your campervan in Lysekil?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have been standing with the camper ourselves&nbsp;<strong>The Kolholms<\/strong>, within walking distance of the harbour and central Lysekil. When we were there there was electricity, toilet, shower and emptying facilities, and we found it to be a very good base for exploring the town on foot.
