To get there we first take a car and then we take their private small boat out to the island. They have built the house entirely themselves, over many years, and sometimes we have helped them, for example with the ceiling, the floor, the kitchen and the chimney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, no real toilet has been installed yet, only a home-made seat, a bucket with a compostable waste bag, and the possibility to burn the waste. There is no need for a water connection or expensive sewage system. We started by reading up on the installation, at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinderellaeco.com\/se-se\" target=\"_blank\">Cinderella website<\/a>and also looked at their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinderellaeco.com\/se-se\/articles\/337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">instructional video<\/a> for the model we have chosen. Making these holes was probably the most challenging part of the whole installation. They had to be in the right place, of course, but above all we had a 25 centimetre thick timber wall to tackle...<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is probably much easier in a \"normal\" summer house, but our friends have built a log house with <em>heavily<\/em> timber from 150-year-old trees. Peter and Lennart had to work both inside and outside to get nice round holes, and also help with a chainsaw. How does it work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect the toilet to electricity - and check that the green light is lit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fold up toilet lid and seat ring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put a toilet bag in the bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fold down the seat ring - the toilet is ready to use!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the toilet (if there is only a small amount of waste, pour in some water for extra weight).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close the toilet lid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the start button, so that the combustion starts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A yellow light will come on during combustion. The only thing left is a tiny bit of ash, which can be thrown anywhere.
