Here we got a personal tour of a fantastic World Heritage Site, experienced nostalgic memories at Lill-Bab&#039;s museum and discovered that there is even an exclusive champagne bar in the middle of the countryside. Kristofersg\u00e5rden \u2013 a world heritage site we will never forget<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of our strongest experiences in J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 was the visit to Kristofersg\u00e5rden, one of the seven H\u00e4lsinge farms that are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We had decided to visit all seven farms, but did not understand from the beginning what work it would entail. Several farms were privately owned, tours had to be booked and not all of them were able to receive us. This made the visit extra special, as we not only got to see the buildings but also hear about the history of the farm and life there. The farm is still an active farm and has belonged to the same family for fourteen generations. The Manor House features exotic motifs, including swaying palm trees and God&#039;s all-seeing eye, which looks down over the room. Barbro Svensson, who all of Sweden came to know as Lill-Babs, grew up in J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 and maintained a close relationship with her hometown throughout her life. Here we saw stage costumes, photographs, paintings and personal items that told the story of her long career and life off the stage. She was proud of her hometown and helped make the town famous throughout the country. The current church was built between 1832 and 1838 on the site of an older medieval church. It is an impressive building, not least considering that it is located in a relatively small town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cemetery contains Lill-Bab&#039;s grave, which makes the place particularly significant for many who followed her life and career. There is also a nature trail around Kyrk\u00f6n for those who want to combine a visit to the church with a walk in the beautiful surroundings. The church and the island give a different picture of J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 than the ski slopes and the fast-paced activities. The zoo focuses on Nordic animals and includes bears, wolves, lynxes and wolverines. Long wooden walkways run through the forest area, making it possible to move between the animal enclosures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company also works with species conservation and knowledge about Nordic nature. This makes Vildriket more than just an ordinary zoo and an interesting destination for both families with children and nature enthusiasts. There is also Varghotellet, a unique accommodation where large windows face the wolf enclosure. H\u00e4lsinge farms, red cottages, forests and maybe a nice caf\u00e9. But an exclusive champagne bar with a connection to the world-famous French champagne house Taittinger? Hardly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 Champagnebar is located on the old H\u00e4lsinge farm L\u00e5nghans. According to Destination J\u00e4rvs\u00f6, it is one of only four official Taittinger bars in the world, and also the northernmost. Here you can try different champagnes together with local delicacies, cheeses, charcuterie and bread from the farm bakery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the story gets even better. The farm was previously home to Barbro \u201dLill-Babs\u201d Svensson, and her museum was once located in the same building where the champagne bar later opened. Through a connection to the Taittinger family, the business was able to start in 2019. Exactly how it all came about is a story that the owners are happy to tell on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great thing is that you don&#039;t have to come in a tuxedo or evening dress. But even in the summer, the mountain is worth a visit, not least for the fine view of J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 and the surrounding landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We wanted to experience the view from \u00d6jeberget ourselves and drove up Alpv\u00e4gen to the parking lot near the top. There, of course, we did the only logical thing, we thought \u2013 we started walking even further uphill! After a while, we discovered that the viewpoint was actually in the other direction, behind the parking lot. So our best advice is simple: When you get to the top parking lot, look for the signs for Trappstigen before you start trudging off. One was filled with ham and the other with pork, and we both thought it was very tasty. Orbaden \u2013 swimming on the H\u00e4lsingland Riviera<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#039;s not every day that you find a kilometer-long sandy beach in the middle of H\u00e4lsingland, but that&#039;s exactly what awaits you in Orbaden, a little south of J\u00e4rvs\u00f6. The beach is beautifully located by Ljusnan, with forested mountains rising in the background. Unfortunately it was a bit too cold to swim when we were here, but we could really imagine how wonderful it must be on a warm summer day. The long sandy beach has both shallow areas and plenty of space for bathers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also Orbaden Spa &amp; Resort and a campsite here, so it is great to stay longer than just a few hours. At J\u00e4rvs\u00f6backen there are accommodations that are particularly well suited for skiing and cycling, including Bergshotellet. Another option is the historic J\u00e4rvs\u00f6baden, while the surrounding countryside is suitable for those looking for peace and nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jarvso_med_husbil\"><\/span>J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 with a campervan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We traveled to J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 with our Freedom camper van and stayed at J\u00e4rvs\u00f6 Camping. It is a relatively small and nice campsite with a good location for discovering both the town and the surroundings.
