class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We love seafood, and for several years we had almost a tradition of eating the luxurious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedomtravel.se\/en\/2017\/10\/skaldjursbuffe-pa-grand-hotel-stockholm\/\">the seafood buffet at the Grand H\u00f4tel in Stockholm<\/a> together with Peter&#039;s family. Over time, however, it became increasingly difficult to gather everyone. We gathered at their home on Blid\u00f6 in the Stockholm archipelago, where 14 people helped create a feast with fresh seafood, small elegant dishes, tasty side dishes and fine desserts. The result? But that doesn&#039;t mean that every person needs all of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have many different varieties and are also serving mussels, pie, bread and several side dishes \u2013 as we did \u2013 you will of course need less of each shellfish. Another side dish was a V\u00e4sterbotten pie, decorated with cr\u00e8me fraiche and trout roe. V\u00e4sterbotten pie goes well with both crayfish and other shellfish and is also easy to prepare. Peter&#039;s niece Dessi is extremely good at cooking and especially at creating small elegant dishes that look like they could be served in an exclusive restaurant. For our buffet, she had made two different small dishes with scallops, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One variant consisted of scallops with smoked carrot mousse. That&#039;s why it&#039;s smart to choose several things that can be prepared. Sauces, V\u00e4sterbotten pie and several of the cold snacks can be prepared in advance. Of course, the table setting can also be fixed long before the guests arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, shellfish should be kept properly cold until serving. If you have a lot of food, you don&#039;t need to put it all out at once. Keep some cold and fill the buffet gradually. Mussels that are to be served warm, on the other hand, are best cooked closer to the meal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Duka_fint_till_skaldjursfest\"><\/span>Set the table nicely for a seafood feast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The food is important, but a festive table setting does a lot for the feeling. At Micke and Nilla&#039;s, a long table was set with a white tablecloth and white linen napkins. Then they went all out on the seafood theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crayfish hung in the windows and from the ceiling, red lights set the right mood and on the table were small crayfish and lobsters in various models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Micke even had a soft crayfish that made a loud beeping sound when pressed. It worked great when it was time to get everyone&#039;s attention for a toast or some quiz questions. It was delicious and looked nice. The only problem was that almost no one could eat it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After fresh seafood, mussels, V\u00e4sterbotten pie and all the small dishes, the group was quite full. If you are going to organize a seafood buffet as extensive as ours, the cheese platter can be one of the things you can easily skip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cheeses didn&#039;t go to waste, though. On the contrary, it can be smart to choose a few things that play the main role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go for really nice seafood, complement it with some good sauces and side dishes and maybe choose a couple of small dishes that you can prepare yourself. Feel free to put a little extra love into the table setting too \u2013 it is a party after all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And above all: See the buffet as inspiration rather than a menu that must be followed to the letter.
