We have today rolled into Montenegro, from Albania. We drove across the border south of Lake Shkoder and the first thing we saw was a landscape with high mountains, narrow roads, luxurious villas and some vineyards. It did not become independent until 2006, when it broke away from the state union 'Serbia and Montenegro'. When Yugoslavia broke up in the early 1990s, Montenegro chose to stay with Serbia, and when war broke out, they fought alongside Serbia in Bosnia and Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-montenegro-av-idag\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Montenegro_av_idag\"><\/span>Montenegro of today<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the country's population consists of 44% ethnic Montenegrins, 30% Serbs and several other ethnic groups. As soon as we parked, we were welcomed by our Dutch camping neighbours, who recognised us from the previous campsite in Albania. We had a few glasses of wine outside their campervan and chatted for a few hours - very nice!<\/p><div class=\"freed-grupp-i-blogginlagg-2 freed-entity-placement\" id=\"freed-2723231110\"><div class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main reason to camp here in Ulcinj is probably to stand on a long sandy beach. The beach here is very nice, although perhaps a bit too \"long and flat\" for our taste. Or maybe we have been spoilt!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also a restaurant here at the campsite, where you sit with a nice view of the sea. We have to get used to the fact that everything is more expensive than in Albania ... However, this does not mean that it is really expensive.
