The shelves reveal both what people eat on a daily basis and what flavors and ingredients are typical of the country. In larger grocery stores you will find most of what you need, while smaller stores may of course have a more limited selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, it&#039;s the differences from home that are fun. In larger cities and resorts, there are often several different chains to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Consumer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Konzum is one of the Croatian grocery chains that we have shopped at a lot ourselves. The stores come in different sizes and in the larger variants the range is usually wide, with everything from fruit, vegetables and dairy products to meat, fish and other everyday goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lidl<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone who usually shops at Lidl at home will recognize a lot, although the range is of course adapted to the Croatian market. For those traveling by motorhome, the larger stores can also be practical as they are often located outside the busiest city centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spar and Interspar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spar and the larger Interspar stores are also located in various locations in Croatia. Especially in larger stores you will find a wide range of both international and Croatian products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plodine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plodine is a Croatian grocery chain with larger stores in many parts of the country. They have a wide range of products and the stores can be practical for those who want to make a larger purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Studenac<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Studenac is a chain that you can find in many Croatian towns. Many of the stores are relatively small and work well when you need to stock up on a few items rather than doing a huge weekly shopping spree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lokala_matvaror_att_halla_utkik_efter\"><\/span>Local foods to look out for<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paprika, paprika, paprika! It was one of the things we reacted to during our first longer stays in Croatia. Paprika spice could be sold in huge bags, the shelves of ajvar and pickled paprika seemed to never end, and paprika flavor appeared on everything from chips to various meat products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ajvar is still one of the products we like to buy when we travel in Croatia. The air-dried ham <em>prosciutto<\/em> is a classic, and depending on where in the country you are, you can find different regional specialties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wine selection can also be exciting.
