The fjord landscape was behind us and a new Norway awaited \u2013 with open coastal landscapes, bare cliffs, small fishing villages and eventually the white wooden towns that southern Norway is so famous for. We were in no hurry, but let the journey be filled with spontaneous stops, beautiful views and small towns that we might otherwise never have discovered.<\/p><div class=\"sharethis-buttons\"><div class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We needed an overnight stay before setting off with the camper along the south coast of Norway. Through <a href=\"https:\/\/nortrip.no\/se\/butik\/?tag_ref=freedomtravel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Nortrip app<\/a> We found \u00d8rnahaug G\u00e5rd in Bryne, which was in an excellent location for us. The route offers open sandy beaches, heathland and several fine viewpoints. It is a small town, but very photogenic and well worth a stop. was a real surprise. We had originally planned to just drive through, but when we saw the charming town center we had to stop. Here we were greeted by small white wooden houses, cozy streets and a pleasant harbor environment. Instead we planned a stop in charming <em>Lillesand<\/em>, but since we couldn&#039;t park our large vehicle, we had to give up and drive on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We now arrived at Grimstad, which became one of our favorites of the trip. Mandal is a charming coastal town with white wooden houses, small streets and a pleasant harbor and works well as a stop along the south coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much time should be allocated for the route?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of driving, it takes a few hours, but if you want to experience the coastal communities and the most dramatic stretches of road, at least two to three days are recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can you travel along the south coast of Norway with a campervan?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. The roads are generally good and there are plenty of campsites, rest areas and motorhome parking.
