Our friends Lennart and Beata have had a summer house on Rings\u00f6 for many years and through them we have had the opportunity to get to know the island. There have been many visits over the years, during different seasons and with everything from midsummer celebrations and swimming to house building and fishing adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rings\u00f6 is located in Lake M\u00e4laren, near Sela\u00f6n and Stallarholmen in Str\u00e4ngn\u00e4s municipality. The nature is varied with forest, open areas and old oaks. When we go here we drive via S\u00f6dert\u00e4lje and Stallarholmen to Sela\u00f6n. From there it is about 800 meters across the water to Rings\u00f6. On Sela\u00f6n there are two dock areas that belong to the Rings\u00f6 community, N\u00e4sbyviken and Sj\u00f6backa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last leg must therefore be done by your own or private boat. You have to think through what you need and bring food and other gear on the boat. On Rings\u00f6 we haven&#039;t seen any regular cars. In the summer of 1974, an attempt was made to provide regular boat service from Stockholm to Rings\u00f6 during the weekends. The development agreement for Rings\u00f6 was signed in 1967 and the sale of plots began in 1972. But people had lived and farmed on the island long before that. Boats come and go, people stay in their cottages and days can be spent by the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two landscaped beaches on the island, one in the north and one in the south, with barbecue areas and swimming floats. It&#039;s clear that the island is a summer island, with more people in the cottages and more boats at the piers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our own celebration was of the quieter kind, with a classic midsummer lunch on the patio with new potatoes, herring, hard bread, cheese, beer and nubbe. It didn&#039;t bother us that much. A visit in the fall gives a completely different feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#039;s quieter, the days are shorter and the nature is changing colors. went out on Lake M\u00e4laren to fish with nets. Peter has extensive experience of net fishing since growing up on Blid\u00f6, while this was a new adventure for several of the rest of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we set the nets, Lake M\u00e4laren was calm and beautiful. When we were to whitewash them the next day, a dense white fog lay over the lake. There is plenty of forest here and because you are on an island, nature always feels close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have seen deer, hares and moose on the island, among other things. The birdlife is also rich, and our friends have seen white-tailed eagles, ravens, kestrels and ospreys, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freedomtravel.se\/wp-content\/webp-express\/webp-images\/uploads\/%C3%84lg-1-1024x577.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\u00e4lg\" class=\"wp-image-91051\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A slightly blurry picture of a moose peeking at me when I was about to pee in the forest...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are of course also smaller animals. We have photographed both lemon butterflies and bumblebees here, while Lennart and Beata have had much more exciting observations over the years. Here we have celebrated midsummer, gone swimming, fished and had dinners with good friends.
