Building a log house from scratch, on an island where all the materials have to be transported by boat, is a few levels more difficult. Peter and his brother Dennis have also helped during parts of the work, and slowly but surely what was once a gigantic construction project has been transformed into a real summer home. Then they built the house themselves, log by log. Doing it on an island in Lake M\u00e4laren creates some additional practical challenges. Rings\u00f6 is located near Sela\u00f6n and there is no regular boat service. Materials and tools must be transported to Sela\u00f6n, loaded onto the boat and driven over to Rings\u00f6. Among other things, proper flooring and a functioning kitchen were missing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During an intensive construction period, the house took big steps forward. Suddenly there was a real floor throughout the house. It may sound like a fairly simple thing, but the difference was enormous. Lennart and Beata bought it second-hand. It is from the Ankarsrum brand and is from the early 1900s. This became a new project for Peter and Lennart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The installation was not completely straightforward. The roof slopes and the penetration therefore had to be adapted to the angle of the roof. In the end, a real staircase was built. On an island and in a house without the usual municipal solutions for water and sewage, you have to think a little differently.
