Inside a granite mountain are five caves filled with Buddha statues and paintings, some of which are as old as the 2nd century BC. We drove past here on the way from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedomtravel.se\/en\/2018\/12\/bestiga-sigiriya-lejonberget-sri-lanka\/\">Mount Sigiriya<\/a>, the day after our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedomtravel.se\/en\/2018\/12\/safari-i-sri-lanka-minneriya-nationalpark\/\">safari in Minneriya National Park<\/a>and on our way to Kandy. Among other things. However, it was not the staircase we would go up to get to the cave temples, but a staircase to the left of this complex.<\/p><div class=\"freed-grupp-i-blogginlagg-2 freed-entity-placement\" Together they contain 153 Buddha statues and numerous statues of Sri Lankan kings and Hindu gods and goddesses.
