Peter spent much of his childhood here, and today several of his family live on the island. For us, Blid\u00f6 means boating, archipelago nature and many wonderful moments together with family. much more than a destination. During his first twenty years, the family went to the summer cottage whenever it was free: weekends, holidays and summers. He and his friends also fished for herring, which they cleaned and sold to summer visitors in the ferry queues. Peter went to sailing school, fished and learned to read charts, lay nets and take care of both boats and engines. Peter&#039;s brother Micke and his wife Nilla live here, as do their daughter and her family. Other times we have slept in one of their guest cottages. A favorite is the little old cottage right by the water, where you can wake up and look out over the strait. Boats, piers and changing lights mean there is always something to look at \u2013 or photograph. Of course, the weather determines a lot. During a midsummer visit, it was too windy to sit on the veranda, so we instead set up a table in the shelter of the camper and pulled out the awning. One midsummer, a long table was laid in the garden for 37 people. He had planned a fairly simple celebration at his brother&#039;s, but as the day went on, more and more family members showed up. We visited the farm when Nilla and her daughter Dessi ran the business. Back then there was Caf\u00e9 Amalia, where we had coffee and a bun together with Peter&#039;s mother. Today, the farm offers hostel accommodation, the party venue Lekhallen and a summer restaurant in the garden. Music, culture and other events are also arranged here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The farm also has a history as a summer camp for children, before it became a hostel. The church is in neoclassical style and is used for services, baptisms, weddings and concerts, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter was confirmed here and his niece Dessi got married in the church, so the church is also part of his history on the island. The water here is shallow and there are toilets, parking, picnic tables and a playground. Feel free to bring your own snacks, as the bathing spot lacks a kiosk and caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linkudden Nature Reserve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those who want to discover more of the island&#039;s nature, there is Linkuddens Nature Reserve on southern Blid\u00f6. Here, forest, old pastures and coastal meadows meet. Along the beaches there are smooth cliffs, and the area has a rich birdlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a complementary excursion tip from our research. Check the current program if you want to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The island also has a strong connection to the steamship S\/S Blid\u00f6sund, which was built in 1911 after committed Blid\u00f6 residents joined forces to improve boat connections. The ship still makes tours of the archipelago. The journey includes two road ferries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Furusund Trail:<\/strong> Furusund\u2013Yxlan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blid\u00f6 Trail:<\/strong> Yxlan\u2013Blid\u00f6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both ferries are free of charge and each crossing takes about four minutes. In between, you drive across Yxlan to the next ferry stop. The crossings themselves are short, but also allow for waiting time. Check departures and any traffic disruptions with the Swedish Transport Administration before your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By bus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also possible to visit Blid\u00f6 without a car. From Stockholm you travel via Norrt\u00e4lje, where bus 634 continues to Blid\u00f6. Search for the trip to the stop you actually want to reach, as the island has several villages and attractions. You can find current connections in the SL travel planner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By archipelago boat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waxholmsbolaget operates several piers on Blid\u00f6. Which trips are suitable depends on the season and where on the island you are going. Check both departure and return trips in <a href=\"https:\/\/waxholmsbolaget.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Waxholmsbolaget&#039;s travel planning<\/a>. According to current information, Bromsk\u00e4r&#039;s pier is closed for renovation until June 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Handla_och_bo_pa_Blido\"><\/span>Shop and stay on Blid\u00f6<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the island there is ICA Blid\u00f6, where you can buy food and other everyday goods. The store is also a pharmacy and Systembolag representative. Check opening hours and terms and conditions for orders before visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to stay overnight, there is a hostel at Haraldsg\u00e5rden, where guests have access to a shared kitchen, toilets and showers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We usually stay with family, so our experiences are mainly about life on the island and our recurring visits.
