Here you will find windmills, dramatic limestone cliffs, a well-preserved medieval castle and even a meteorite crater. island<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saaremaa is called <em>Saaremaa<\/em> in Estonian and is Estonia&#039;s largest island. It is located in the Baltic Sea, west of the Estonian mainland, and offers a landscape with forests, coast, small villages and plenty of traces of a long and varied history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We didn&#039;t have unlimited time on the island, so we focused on some of the most famous sights. From there the road continues over Muhu and further over a road embankment to Saaremaa itself. The historic manor has been transformed into an exclusive hotel and is beautifully situated near the sea. We arrived outside opening hours and therefore had to make do with seeing the manor from the outside. According to an old legend, a hidden room with a human skeleton was discovered in the 18th century. The distances are relatively short and the sights are spread out across the island, so it is easy to combine Kuressaare, Kaali, Angla and Panga during the same trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We stayed one night at a campsite by L\u00f5unaranna harbour on Muhu. Together they show quite well how varied the island is \u2013 history, culture, nature and some really unusual sights in a relatively small area.
