Restaurants in Ghent - and local specialities in Belgium

There are plenty of restaurants in Ghent, and today we can tell you about local specialities in Belgium. We went on a guided tour focusing on local food and local treats. We have also visited two good restaurants, one of which offered a journey through a dozen well-composed tasting dishes. Belgium for foodies simply!

Today we have 14 things to see and do in Bruges, Belgium. Bruges is an incredibly charming city in Flanders, with medieval buildings and cosy canals where you can take a boat ride. There's also a local brewery, lots of shops selling Belgian chocolate and a host of interesting museums.

Brewery in Bruges - Belgian beer at De Halve Maan

We are now in Flanders in Belgium, where we took the opportunity to visit a brewery in Bruges. We have taken a guided tour of the brewery De Halve Maan. This brewery is located in the middle of charming Bruges, but leads all beer out of the city through a several kilometres long (!) pipeline. We also did a lot of other things, from a boat ride in the canals to a diamond museum.

The world's best beer - is it in Belgium?

Where can you find the best beer in the world? Could it be in Belgium? When you're in Belgium, you should definitely try Belgian beer. There are lots of different types of beer here, including top-fermented beer, Trappist beer and fruit beer. One beer you'll see in many places is 'Leffe', but there are also many other, perhaps more exciting, varieties to try.

Conference in Ghent, Belgium

I am currently at a conference in Ghent, Belgium. Ghent is a small city with about 250,000 inhabitants. I would probably never have thought of coming here, if it wasn't for the fact that we came here for a conference with my work. Now that I'm here, I have to say that this is a very nice city, which I would definitely consider visiting privately as well.

Carnival in Hasselt - an unexpected party

Today, completely unplanned, we experienced a carnival in Hasselt here in Belgium. The day after Sensation White, we woke up (in the afternoon) and decided to go for a quiet walk to buy some water. Instead, we were greeted by... a raging party!

Hasselt in Belgium - hotels and shopping

Here is a greeting from Hasselt, Belgium. The journey here was quite long. We took a flight to Eindhoven, continued by train to Maastricht and then travelled the last stretch by bus to Hasselt. Fortunately, all the people along the way were incredibly friendly and helpful. And then we got to rest at the hotel De Groene Hendrickx.
