Vikingabyn Storholmen is an open-air museum beautifully situated by Lake Erken in Roslagen. For a few weeks in the summer, the village is populated by a Viking association, and at certain times families with children and others are welcomed to learn more about the Viking Age and our exciting history.

During the last night of the midsummer weekend, we went free camping at Lake Erken in Roslagen, at Svanberga bathing area. Here we had a fantastic view of the beautiful lake, and we were surprised by a nature reserve with impressive oak trees and ... a Viking village. Väddö havsbad and camping on Väddö is a campsite with a sandy beach, surrounded by beautiful nature. The campsite was quite simple, but we still experienced two nice days in lovely surroundings.

Kapellskär's campsite is beautifully located in the Riddersholm nature reserve, with the coast and the Åland Sea just outside. We drove here on the first "proper" motorhome trip of the year and had a wonderful day in the Swedish nature.

Gustavsberg is a lovely little town in Värmdö municipality in Stockholm, best known for the Gustavsberg porcelain factory. We took a map-based walk along the waterfront and discovered everything from factory history to castles and mansions.

Rydboholm Castle in Roslagen is a private castle from the 16th century, and next to the castle is the beautiful English Park, where visitors are welcome. But to be able to find the English park, you have to know that it exists!

Yesterday a new cultural trail opened in Värmdö municipality, on the island of Ingarö, called Kulturstig Pilhamn. So what was better than to go and visit it? It was a nice little walk through beautiful nature, with a large dose of history, from the Iron Age onwards. We also met two moose!

Bogesund Castle in Vaxholm is a beautiful 17th century castle located on the Bogesund Island in the Stockholm archipelago. We went here one day last week to walk the "Stora Slottsrundan". It was a fantastic day in beautiful natural surroundings.

Yesterday, I (Helena) visited Norrtälje, often referred to as the capital of Roslagen, on business. I work in the Stockholm County Council and since the county stretches from Södertälje in the south to Norrtälje in the north, there are sometimes longer journeys for meetings. After the meeting, the sun was shining in Norrtälje and I took a short walk along the Norrtälje river.

We celebrate Midsummer with Peter's brother on Blidö in the Stockholm archipelago. They have a nice red cottage right by the water. Very idyllic and just what you want on a Midsummer's Eve. There are a total of 26 people here, and three motorhomes are parked around the site.
