Welcome to the United States in 1935. This is a time of racism, when innocent black Americans can be lynched by an angry white mob. This is an interesting film that takes you to a time when the world looked different, even though it was not that long ago.

A true story

The film is based on a true story, which perhaps makes it even more worth watching. The film follows Melvin B Tolstoy, a professor at Wiley College in Texas, an all-black college. He inspires students to join the school's debate team, which is one of the first to meet white students.

The main roles are played by Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker. Denzel Washington also directed this 2007 American film produced by, among others, Oprah Winfrey and her production company Harpo Productions. This is a film worth seeing!
