As usual, we run travel news on Mondays, although nothing is as usual in the travel industry right now. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently advises against non-essential travel to all countries, which as far as we know has never happened before.

The decision was made on 14 March 2020 and is valid until 14 April, after which a new assessment will be made.

Corona provides more flexible cancellation and rebooking rules when travelling abroad

Due to the concern about the coronavirus and the effect that this has on new travel bookings, most travel operators are now offering more generous cancellation or rebooking rules when travelling abroad. This writes Ticket in a press release.

For example, several charter companies choose not to charge a rebooking fee, while others do not charge a rebooking or cancellation fee. In most cases, the new rules apply to new bookings, with some exceptions. Travellers should feel confident in booking their trip, but have the possibility to change their mind later.

Endangered antelopes get sanctuary at Kolmården

The world's most endangered antelopes are moving into Kolmården this spring. Several of the species are virtually extinct in the wild, but thanks to conservation programmes in zoos around the world, Kolmården hopes to help save the species for the future.

On the recommendation of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) and the conservation programme for each species, two eastern bongo antelopes, three dama gazelles and six Nile waterbucks will initially come from zoos in Europe. The Nile waterbucks and damascelles are the first in Sweden.

Reflection of the week

The fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel to all countries in the world is an unusual situation. We hope that this will help to reduce the spread of infection. We are also thinking of all small and large companies that must be struggling in these times.
