Long waiting times at security checks at Arlanda airport

Due to increased travel pressure before the weekend and staffing shortages in the security checkpoints in Terminal 5, there were long waiting times to pass through the security checkpoint at Arlanda on Friday. Before and during the Easter weekend, many people will be travelling by air and great pressure is expected. Swedavia regrets the situation and we want to urge all travellers to be out in extra good time, stay updated via websites and apps and check in online when possible.

Tallink does not run Stockholm-Riga in 2022 and Isabelle becomes a refugee centre

Tallink Grupp has signed an agreement with the Estonian social security authority to lease the vessel Isabelle as temporary refugee accommodation. The vessel is initially chartered for four months by the Estonian authorities, which can be extended. The lease means that the company will not reopen the Riga-Stockholm route on 3 June 2022, as announced at the end of March. The company sincerely apologises to Latvian and Swedish customers who have been waiting for the reopening.

Skånes Djurpark invests millions in dinosaurs

Skånes Djurpark celebrates its 70th anniversary and invests SEK 14 million in the park. This summer, the big new attraction 'Dinosaurs' opens. The attraction is built in a new area of the park and covers a 3,000 square metre forest area. The new overnight concept "Dino Camp" is also being introduced as a development of the success of staying overnight among the animals in the park. Skånes Djurpark opened for the season on 9 April and the dinosaur experience is expected to open in June.

Plenty of snow and many ski slopes open for Easter

Swedish ski resorts report good conditions for Easter, from Branäs in Värmland to Riksgränsen in the north. Despite the late Easter, around sixty ski centres are open. "Now is the best time, what is popularly known as the fifth season. Snow, Easter holidays, long days and sunshine mean great spring skiing for both adults and children", says Titti Rodling, CEO of SLAO, the Swedish Ski Resorts Organisation.

Easter holiday activities around Sweden

During Easter week, family activities are organised at many museums and parks around the country. Here is a selection of the week's press releases:

Reflection of the week

The long queues at security checkpoints are annoying! You'd rather they find ways to solve it than give you warnings. If you get to the airport in good time, you shouldn't have to risk missing your flight!
