SAS launches two routes from Denmark to Sälen

SAS presents two flight routes from Denmark to Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sälen. International guests will be flown directly to the airport from both Copenhagen and Aalborg. The route from Copenhagen starts on 22 December and will operate on Thursdays and Sundays during the winter season. The route from Aalborg will also start on 22 December with service on Thursdays during the Christmas/New Year period until 5 January and Sundays from 8 January.

Hiking is the most popular summer exercise.

More than one in three Swedes will prioritise exercise during the summer holidays, according to a new Sifo survey conducted on behalf of WW ViktVäktarna. The survey shows that just over one in three Swedes (38%) see exercise during the summer as fairly or very important. Interest in exercise is greatest in the 35-55 age group. The following forms of exercise are most popular during the summer holidays:

  1. Hiking (58 %)
  2. Cycling (37 %)
  3. Running (27 %)

How Swedes are cooling off on the road this summer

As one of the biggest sellers of cold drinks by road, Circle K has reviewed its sales statistics and can reveal the Swedes' favourites. The top ten list is relatively similar across the country, but there are regional differences. "For example, Trocadero appears as high as fourth and fifth place in some regions, especially in the north of the country, while it is completely off the list in others," says Stina Frisell, category manager for drinks at Circle K. The most popular drinks on Sweden's roads in June 2022:

  1. Coca-Cola (50 cl)
  2. Red Bull Original (25 cl)
  3. Coca-Cola Zero (50 cl)
  4. Red Bull Sugar Free (25 cl)
  5. Pepsi Max (50 cl)

Brighter future for M/S Gustaf Wasa on Lake Siljan

Every summer, up to 10,000 passengers travel with the almost 150-year-old ship M/S Gustaf Wasa across Siljan. To secure the future of M/S Gustaf Wasa on Siljan, Leksands Sparbank is now contributing SEK 250,000. Through the support from Leksands Sparbank and additional support from Leksand, Rättvik and Mora municipality, it will be possible, among other things, to invest in new stern drives for the older Volvo Penta engines in the ship's engine room.

Port of Gothenburg invests heavily in sustainability

The Port of Gothenburg aims to reduce port-related carbon dioxide emissions in the Gothenburg area by 70 per cent by 2030. Work is underway to make the entire chain from land transport by rail and truck, terminal handling and sea transport fossil-free. However, the Port of Gothenburg is disappointed that the Swedish government does not want to designate the most important ports in Sweden, so that investments can be prioritised there.

Now you can sleep on the roof of an electric car

In 60 seconds, you can transform the Aiways U5 into a motorhome with four beds in a tent on the roof. German company Campwerk has developed a tent that can be mounted on the roof of an Aiways U5, with room for four people. The tent is packed in an aerodynamic fibreglass box that is mounted on the car's roof rack. The collapsible tent, the iKamper Skycamp 3.0, can be set up in a minute. Mattresses and a ladder to access the tent are tucked away in the fibreglass box when the tent is not in use.

Reflection of the week

During this year's trip, we saw that roof top tents are becoming more and more popular. The development of electric motorhomes is also underway, although it is still small-scale, expensive and mostly about smaller vehicles. The fact that we see electric cars with roof tents is not surprising, but right on time.
