Now we are on a motorhome adventure in France! We have checked out from the river cruiser Grand Victoria and we are now "cruising" through the land of the French in our motorhome FREEDOM. A wonderful, wonderful and free adventure!

Back in the campervan
So we are back in the motorhome, after our week with exclusive river cruise in France. Now it's a different kind of 'cruising', in the form of motorhome road trips.

Motorhome adventures in France
We have a lot planned for France, but we are taking it all in our stride (or little by little as the French say). It's great to be able to travel as much as we do, but we are not "free", we run a travel magazine and a travel agency. Therefore, we sometimes have to slow down our travelling, so that we have time for various tasks at the computers.
For the past few days, we've been spinning through France on a slow motorhome adventure. We work a few hours, drive a few hours and work a few hours. Along the way, we are struck by how amazing France is - scenic, historic, picturesque...!

So easy to fricamp - now that we have solar panels!
One thing we are really excited about is our solar cells. We used to have a strong need for electricity - at least every three days we needed to plug in an electricity cable to charge computers, drones, powerbanks and other technical equipment. Now we don't need to plug in an electricity cable at all. The solar cells charge very efficiently, and we have electricity all the time.

We've done a lot of free camping on this trip, both before and here in France. We use the app "Park for Night" and so far it has been relatively easy to find nice night places.
The only challenge in France is to understand what the rules are as they seem to be quite strict. When we fricamp, we assume to park in places intended for motor vehicles, where we do not disturb anyone, and we avoid taking out tables and chairs etc.

A lot of work!
As I said, we work a lot. It may sound great to be travelling all the time (and it is!) but we don't have holidays. We have to work all the time to keep our businesses running.
We work mainly in the mornings - between 6am and 11am is our most efficient time - but there is almost always work in the evenings too. Sometimes we have full "work days" when we stop just to catch up on tasks.

In addition, there are always other things to be done, such as cooking, cleaning, washing, filling/emptying tanks, shopping and other practical things, i.e. everyday chores.

Best this week
Best this week? We have to say that travelling in France is fantastic! We often choose smaller roads, instead of motorways, and then you get to see all the charming little towns and villages, filled with beautiful stone houses and historic buildings. We've also had time to visit some exciting sights, which we'll tell you more about soon!
Your turn ... what can you highlight as positive from your week?

The week ahead
We're now continuing our motorhome adventure in France, and we have several exciting destinations ahead of us. Interesting to follow your journey in France as we have just returned from our motorhome trip there.
One tip on caravan park apps in France is Camping-car park. A handy system where you can see in the app how many pitches there are and how many are available and you can book in advance if you want.

Good luck on your journey!

Following local rules and being considerate is important, but unfortunately many people don't do it. They ruin it for everyone else.
Nice to see how you are doing on your travels.
Best this week 🤔 there has been so much that has been good, I think. But I'm glad that both my gluten-free bakes have worked and turned out well, it's hard sometimes to get it right.
Happy Friday!

France is certainly a country that we have a lot left to explore in. We will certainly check out your tips for our autumn trip. We have mostly travelled along the Atlantic coast or Alsace and straight south. The best thing this week was that we came to Gotland but here we are blowing away and standing scenic along the coast is just to forget. Then not everything will be as we imagined but more about it on the blog as it suffers....

Rochefort-Montagne - I have actually been there. Very close to Clermont-Ferrand which you may also have visited.
I think you are really brave to fricamp. Coward that I am, I would never dare to do that. Understand that the solar cells mean a whole new life for you with electricity available all the time. It was really a good investment!
It's so much fun to follow your adventures down in Europe.
