When you're on a long journey with your motorhome, it's not just about adventure and experiences, but also everyday life. After a long time on the road, our main focus suddenly became finding a washing machine... which in turn led to pleasant surprises!

Laundry, cleaning and labour
Suddenly it felt like we needed to wash all: clothes, bed linen, towels... We needed a campsite with a washing machine! Our only other criteria were that the campsite should be on our route and open. It was more or less by chance that we ended up at Florence Camp in La Romieu.
We stayed three nights here and ran a whole bunch of washing machines while scrubbing the kitchen and bathroom and polishing most corners of the motorhome. We also worked on the computers!

Pleasant surprises
So we chose the campsite only due to the fact that there was a washing machine, and it can therefore be said that we were pleasantly surprised by:
- A fantastic, green campsite with a lovely swimming pool.
- An interesting Unesco church.
- A wonderfully charming village with a cute legend about cats.
In addition to washing, there was also a lot of travelling. We will return soon with reports!

Lots of good food
We also continue to enjoy the fantastic food here in France. We will love really to browse the food shops. I've taken a lot of photos and eventually there will probably be an "in French food shops" report.
In the meantime, here are some photos from our dining table in the campervan. Among other things, we had moules frites one day (oh so good!) and some other good dishes.

Continuing the motorhome journey
After our days in La Romieu, we continued our journey eastwards in France, towards new motorhome adventures. We usually choose country roads, instead of motorways, and then you get to experience the beautiful French countryside.

Now it is, among other things, nature experiences that await. Follow the adventure both here and on Instagram at @freedomtravelnews!

Best this week
Best this week? For us, it's probably that we've been able to slow down a bit, and it also feels good to have had time to wash and clean. Then it's easier to fully enjoy the beautiful nature in France.
Your turn, what has been the best part of your week...? Big or small?

The week ahead
Right now we are camping in the magically beautiful Gorges du Tarn, and here we plan to stay for a while. I haven't even had time to load the photos into the computer yet, but it will come.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Friday and weekend!

But you were really lucky there. Perfect is you had a "requirement" and so you get lots of bonus on the purchase.

How lovely you have it 🙂 The Francophile in me enjoys a little extra 😉 Love French wine, cheeses, nature and language (read French for 3 years but unfortunately have not practiced it enough)
Glad you got your laundry done too!
Have a great trip!
Hugs!

I also studied French for three years (or four I think), but unfortunately I haven't practised enough either... I can read signs and menus sometimes and say some phrases and stuff, but I can't speak...

You seem to have ended up in very beautiful and charming environments. Good for you to land a little and fix things. That is also needed.

It's fun when you are offered positive surprises. It has also happened to us a few times that we have only sought an overnight stay but stayed a couple of extra days in some nice fishing village or other nice place. Now since we moved out in the motorhome, there will be a lot of everyday life as well, but the best thing this week is probably that we were finally treated to a really brilliant Ascension Day weather. For our part, it was a great bike ride along Åsunden, so wonderful!
Keep up the good work!

Wonderful journey you are on. I understand that it is a joy to shop for food, and to eat food in different restaurants. AHHH! Best!
Then, washing is a must and I can believe that it was nice to clean the motorhome too. Then it feels much better to roll on then too.
Always country roads before motorways. I think so too.
Have a nice weekend!

France is one of my favourite countries, but I have travelled there by train and car, and stayed in small guesthouses, in private families, small hotels, caravans and can really understand that you are fond of France
Perfect that you could now wash everything and found such a good campsite.

Perfect with all these bonuses. It immediately makes cleaning and laundry less of a chore. Do you wash in your campervan or were you looking for large washing machines at the campsite?
Do you remember that I told you about the Gorges du Tarn last time you travelled through France? I am so glad that you have now ended up there. It really is fabulously beautiful. The turquoise water of the Gorges du Tarn has etched itself on my retina, I can say. Hope it is still as turquoise. Looking forward to a post from there.

Some campsites have washing machines in the service buildings, or in a laundry room. You usually have to pay for each time you wash. Sometimes you put tokens in the washing machine, for example. There may also be tumble dryers, or you simply hang up your washing.
Oh, it was you who told us about Tarn? Yes, we remember getting the tip! This area has been on "our list" for a long time! 🙂

The SuperU supermarket chain has washing machines, as does Intermarche. Hang out in the campervan while the machines are running, practical we think... 😉
