Summer jobs in construction

We are painting and repainting the houseboat. The panel is pretty much finished (light grey) and most of the windows and linings are also finished (white). But there are still a lot of details left, plus all the metal to be painted: deck, pillars, railing, ladder ... I can't possibly do it all and youngest son Billie is happy that there are summer jobs.

Warm floor, parquet and fireplace

At the weekend, eldest son Robin was here to help Peter lay the heated floor and parquet. Then Peter's brother Dennis came and helped with the stove and chimney. The previous owner bought the stove, but we have had to buy the chimney, and there are of course a lot of rules to follow when it goes in in terms of distance, materials in the walls and so on.

New living room in the houseboat

The remodelling of the houseboat means that we will have a new, larger living room. We focus on finishing the exterior in the first place, but also build the interior when we get the opportunity. The room is 16 square metres, has ten windows and a balcony door.

The whole houseboat gets new panelling. The new part must of course be panelled, but we are also replacing the panels on the old part. This is a lot of work, I can promise! Four guys are at work constantly, while I take care of ground service and other tasks around.

Building new - a new part emerges on the houseboat

When we demolished the old superstructure (the living room) in the houseboat, it was of course time to start building something new! First a company came and welded a basic iron frame. Then Peter and his brother Dennis started building the frame for the room. Peter's son Billie and his cousin Pontus also helped.
