We experienced a light festival in Malta, specifically in the city of Vittoriosa! Every year in October, "Birgufest", a festival of lights is organised in Malta. All electricity is switched off in Vittoriosa and the only thing that lights up are the candles.

OK, here we go and it's Peter in Malta at the controls. Full speed from 02.45 Thursday morning because our bus left 04.14 from Fridhemsplan. Good start, hmm. We were delayed and had to run to the bus in the morning with packing, and if no one else would get on the bus in Fridhemsplan we would have really missed it. Easter in Spain - a mighty display!

Easter in Spain is very different from Easter in Sweden. Easter is celebrated for the same religious reason as in Sweden, i.e. to commemorate the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. However, many of the Swedish Easter traditions, such as Easter baskets and Easter eggs, have nothing to do with the suffering of Jesus, but originate from folklore and non-religious traditions... In Spain, it is easier to understand the religious connection!

Parade through Valencia - Spain

The Las Fallas festival continues here in Valencia, and every day something new happens! Today it was time for the parade through Valencia, as each regional association (those who also compete with the different statues) join the train heading to Plaza de la Virgen, to offer flowers to Valencia's patron saint Our Lady of the Forsaken.
