Now we have real winter in Stockholm. Finally, I say! I know not everyone agrees with me, but I like it when there is a lot of snow and real winter. Everything is wrapped in thick white snow, traffic moves slowly, people pulse forward ... and for some reason become a little more chatty than usual. Everyone wants to talk about the weather!

Most of the time, houseboat life feels quite ordinary, but sometimes it is still not quite "ordinary". We woke up at 04:20 yesterday morning by the alarm in the boiler room. What was it now? Well, a power cut ... We went back to sleep and hoped for the best, but when we woke up we were still without electricity. We also woke up to a day of real April weather.

Skiing holidays in Austria - snow, gluhwein and dumplings!

Yesterday when we woke up at the hotel during our skiing holiday in Austria, it was... even more snow! It had snowed all night, and it continued to snow most of the day. The houses here in Reith in the Alpbachtal were covered in a thick white blanket and everywhere people started shovelling to access cars and driveways. It was just a matter of putting on your coat and heading out into the winter landscape!

Yesterday I showed pictures of our houseboat with a light covering of snow and wrote about how it is living in a houseboat in winter. Then came the real winter and struck, with snow chaos in Stockholm. We woke up with the houseboat lying at an angle in the water and it was actually quite nice to have something else to think about than, well you know ... that election.

What weather! One minute the sun is shining and we are enjoying ourselves with the patio door open. The next second it starts to pour.
