Mobile homes and water connections

What about motorhomes and water connections! Now there are real couplings with stainless steel support sleeves instead of plastic. They were not easy to get hold of, as it is a rather special dimension. Fortunately, we have the car at P-bil Stockholm, which in addition to the workshop on motorhomes, caravans and passenger cars builds cranes and hydraulics on trucks. The guy at P-bil is knowledgeable and knew where to look. Apparently, these plastic quick couplings are supposed to last, but after two water leaks in six months, you start to wonder.

Connections that cannot be accessed

If it is the case that there has been some water that could not be got out, that has frozen, then the water connections should be located so that they can be accessed. I know what to do, because I myself work with moisture damage in houses and we are not allowed to hide any connections and it should be the same for motorhomes and caravans.

As you can see in the pictures, the inner screen is set before the wall sections, so we had to saw off the edge of the screen to get the inner screen down, and the water connection is in the intermediate floor, so what was Adria's designer thinking ...?

On Adria's cars in the back of the garage, there is a narrow box that can be opened. There are water pipes and water pipes for the shower, sink and toilet. If you make that box watertight with drainage pipes, you can put all the connections there, and go with full hoses to all the taps. Very easy and very safe.

Repair before travelling

Adria offered to take care of the car the week before we go on our first long holiday. They would send a guy by train from Karlstad, and drive the car down to an authorised workshop to see what they could do, because everyone else in Stockholm has no appointments until September. And then they would drive the car up to Friday the same week, hmmmmmm.

For us, it would be a huge gamble. We knew that the coupling was stuck so that, you had to open up somewhere, and if they would not be ready in time, what would happen then? And if they were to take the same route as we have now done, they would probably put new plastic couplings back in place.

Adria asked if I could fix something temporarily for the time being, and bring the car in for the autumn. How do you fix a hidden water connection, temporarily? At least I don't know. Now it is properly done, and it will cost us 8000 SEK and we will be on our way. It's just a shame that Adria couldn't step in and support us in this deal, when it was urgent. We called in April because the car was leaking, but got no appointments, and the warranty expired in May.

I would also like to take the opportunity, to all our 200-250 visitors a week, to hope that you have a fun and interesting reading. You can also follow us in Europe every day in July and to the archipelago in midsummer, where we meet up with two other motorhomes 😉 This would not have been possible if we had not repaired the car ourselves.
