We can hardly believe it's true, but it is! As you know, we have sold our flat, and the new owners are moving in on 15 August. So we've been looking for a new flat for a while now. We were thinking of a small flat in Solna or Sundbyberg... but then we found a houseboat! It popped up on Hemnet, we went to see it... and fell in love.

Your very own houseboat
The deal has taken quite a long time, and we didn't dare reveal anything in the meantime. But today we signed the papers, and on 1 August we will get access. Our very own houseboat, in a wonderful location in Pampas Marina in Solna. We need to do some work on the boat, but as you know, Peter is handy.
Pampas marina
The houseboat is located in Pampas Marina in Solna, together with around 45 other houseboats and AquaVillas. When you have a houseboat and a berth in the marina, you get a permanent address here. All houseboats have municipal water and sewage, you are entitled to a parking space and have shared washing machines.
Houseboat in need of renovation
The houseboat is 16.5 metres long and has no engine, as it has been removed. The boat is from the 30's and has been renovated numerous times. The kitchen and bathroom are in good condition, and there is heating in the floor on the lower level.
The biggest ”problem” is that it is largely uninsulated for winter and has single-glazed and double-glazed windows. We plan to enjoy it for a short while in August and then take it apart to insulate and rebuild certain parts. During that time, we plan to live in the motorhome...

Big, big congratulations !!!! Simply superb. Have always wanted to live on a houseboat (during the summer). It has become really popular with accommodation on a houseboat, it's cheap too! Wonderful:-)

Sounds like an exciting choice, but up here in the north it would probably be cold on your feet in winter.

We ourselves are on holiday and have so far covered 330 miles down through Germany, France and from the Costa Brava via Zaragosa, Pamplona to now enjoy San Sebastian. Lovely trip that started with a crossing from Trelleborg-Sassniz where we have not travelled before but as Stena had good prices on some crossings we chose that side of Germany down through. Clearly good choice and everything *pepper pepper* has gone well so far during the 13 days we have been away. From here we are heading north again so in a few weeks we will probably be back in Sweden / reality again 😉 We have taken a blog break in the meantime but then there will be reports on the trip.

Henny, yes haha, there is probably "risk" for new design on the boat!
Annika, Hornsberg beach is a place we just discovered. So nice! Yes, she can certainly see our boat. It is located at the far end and is yellow. If you have the roads past some day, look past! (Yes, when we have moved then of course... 😉 ).
Allis & Stellan, sounds like a great trip! Looking forward to a report when you get home! In the meantime, we wish you a pleasant journey!
