Freedomtravel celebrates 7 years

In March, exactly seven years ago, we started the FREEDOMtravel blog. In 2006 and 2007 we managed to go on two of our biggest dream trips ever: the Trans-Siberian Railway through Siberia and Mongolia to China and an adventure trip around New Zealand.

We thought we were against camping, but in New Zealand we discovered the freedom of travelling by campervan. We weren't home in Sweden for long before we bought our motorhome. motorhome 2008. Peter wanted to rebuild everything in the motorhome and I wanted to document. That's when the idea for the travel blog we have today was born ...

7 exciting years with FREEDOMtravel

It has really been seven exciting years with this blog! When we bought the motorhome, we rebuilt the just everything. We reupholstered all the furniture, foiled the entire exterior, built new storage solutions, installed huge subwoofers, and put up LED lighting in every imaginable and unimaginable place.

And so we travelled! To Italy and Croatia, to Poland and the Czech Republic, to festivals in Norway and Denmark and all the way up to Pite Havsbad.

But we haven't only travelled with the camper van during these years. We've also managed to fly to destinations such as Ukraine, Morocco, Kenya, Canada, Iceland, Malaysia and the Philippines.

In 2013, we also 'happened' to buy a houseboat. We wanted to downsize to a smaller apartment to be able to travel more, but when the slightly shabby but super charming 1932 houseboat was for sale, we couldn't say no. There was a whole year of tough renovation work before we could finally rent out a newly renovated and comfortable houseboat and actually make our dream come true - travelling for a year around Europe with the motorhome.

Does the adventure end here? No, of course it doesn't. We've been home in Sweden for three months, we've already travelled to Latvia and Finland and we have lots of plans for the rest of the year. Follow us and the blog into the future!

We are investing heavily in the blog now and hope to take you readers on lots of exciting adventures in the future. In fact, it's you as a reader that makes blogging so fun and rewarding! Your comments sometimes make us laugh and sometimes make us think, and we feel like we know many of you - even those we haven't met. The fact that you read and comment is the most important feedback for us. A big, big THANK YOU to all you wonderful readers!

In recent years, we've also been featured in 14 different magazines and four radio shows, which of course also feels like a sign that we're doing something good. In addition, we have recently been recognised as one of the best travel blogs in the country by both Expressen and Travelmarket, and we have just been nominated for Golden Pen Award in Croatia. Using statistics as a yardstick, we can say that things are getting better and better on the blog right now. In the last 30 days we have had over 12,000 unique visitors and over 46,000 page views. Again, many thanks to you, our readers. It's you that makes us want to keep blogging!
