Italy is the best food country - according to Swedes
Many Swedes believe that Italy is by far the best food country, according to a Sifo survey by Ticket. More than a third of Swedish travellers find Italy's food experiences more appealing than food experiences in other countries. These are the countries Swedes rank highest as food destinations:
- Italy (32 %)
- France (8 %)
- Greece (5 %)
- Spain (4 %)
- Thailand/Sweden (3 %)
Apollo launches trips to 'Destination Unknown'
From 26 February 2019, brave Apollo customers can book a trip and let fate decide where in the world they end up. The only thing you can control is the week you want to travel and the level of hotel you want.
The destination remains unknown until at least 14 days before departure. The trips, called "Live a little", depart from Arlanda, Landvetter and Kastrup between weeks 16-22 and 37-42, and booking closes 35 days before departure.
Ready for new "Ski Cruise"
On 15 February, Sweden's first dedicated ski cruise, Birka SkiCruise, departed. Hundreds of skiers joined the inaugural trip to the winter sports town of Sundsvall for a full day of skiing. On board the ship it was then time for meals, after skiing, entertainment, swimming and shopping. The premiere was successful and therefore the tour will be repeated next year, on 14 February 2020. Tickets for next year's SkiCruise will be released in September.
6 out of 10 daydream about sun holidays at work
A new survey from eBeach.se shows that 4 out of 10 Swedes daydream about sun and swimming every day. The majority (58 per cent) dream of sunbathing during work hours, and many also dream away while cleaning, washing dishes or commuting to work. Four per cent daydream about sun and bath while having sex ... The most common situations to dream about sun and bath:
- At work
- When cleaning/dishwashing
- In traffic/when commuting
- When listening to music
- When you are with friends
Nordic campsites will soon be bookable through one site
The Hollistay.com service will be launched on 15 March. The service is new to the market and can be compared to a Booking.com, where you can find and book all 2300 campsites in the Nordic region in one place. The solution should make it as easy as possible to find and book a campsite. All campsites are represented and can choose whether to post more information, which is free of charge.

Good morning! Italy has good food, of course, but I think Sweden has better! Fish, meat, root vegetables, cream sauces, our berries,... mmmm. The only thing I think Italy beats Sweden is really the ice cream, it's the best in the world!

Partially agree with you about the food! We wouldn't put our vote on Italian cuisine either actually. But the ice cream is fantastic! Maybe I also like things like olives, tomatoes, cold cuts ... But otherwise there are probably many other cuisines that I would choose before. But it's a matter of taste 😉.

It's always fun to see what the surveys show. Sweden is a small country in this context, so it would be fun to see how the French and Spanish answered the question. You would probably get completely different answers if you asked around the world. But it's fun to see. Perhaps the Swedes think that Italian food is more similar to Swedish food and what they are used to. (Personally, I like Asian food more than Italian food in general).

Yes, it would be interesting to hear how other nationalities would vote! In Europe, we like French food best. Then again, Asian is also very tasty! 🙂

Sure, the pasta in Italy is unbeatable, but I think Spain and France have equally good food.
I don't think booking a trip with no known destination appeals to me, as we like to plan and prepare our trips, but as usual we are lucky to be different...

We also like French and Spanish food more than Italian actually. But it's a matter of taste! I find that many Swedes are very fond of Italian food.

Strange that there was such a big gap between Italy and France. Personally, I put my vote on France. The food there is absolutely outstanding.

I agree! But I think Swedes in general have more experience with Italy, and maybe that's how you vote ... We also love French food! 🙂

Once again, I don't understand why Italian food is at the top of the list. You weren't too keen on Italian food either, if I remember correctly. Hollistay.com sounds like a brilliant idea. "Destination unknown" on the other hand is not a hit in my opinion.

You remember correctly. We usually think that Italian food is overrated. They have great ice cream and some great ingredients, like tomatoes, etc. But if we were to vote, other countries would come up higher, such as France and various Asian countries.
