Greetings from the Czech Republic
We are currently travelling around in Czech Republic. This is an amazingly fun trip, but it's also hectic and hard to find time to write. Today it's a post about Instagram, which I started writing even before we left.
FREEDOMtravel on Instagram
FREEDOMtravel has been on Instagram since 2014. We started shortly after a trip to Moroccowhich you can see in Peter's first Instagram picture - a photo from the Sahara. That it was Peter who took care of Instagram was perhaps natural since I (Helena) mostly blogged. I didn't even log in to Instagram for the first five years.
Not being on Instagram
For me, it has actually been quite ok not to be on Instagram. I've been busy with the blog! At the same time, it has felt stranger and stranger in social contexts when you meet other influencers. Often people first want to know your name on Instagram so you can find each other there ... and I haven't even been able to log in.
Why do we change?
After all those years on Instagram, Peter has become bored. Right now he's hugely involved in building informative and useful country pages, which you can find in our blog menu. He is also very involved in all the travelling and collaborations we are planning for the future. And then I started thinking... what if I found Instagram funny?
Now I am an Instagrammer
Now I'm an Instagrammer! Most people who start on Instagram and post their first photo probably start from scratch. I went straight to an account with over 1600 followers. How exciting! I also had to take over all the accounts that we follow - Interesting too!
What will be different now?
I've said that if I take over our Instagram account, I want to do on centre way. That's when it's fun! Now I may not know what my way is yet, but I have a plan (which may change along the way).
The plan is to focus on houseboat living, campervan life, road trips and adventures. There will be a lot of photos from the houseboat life when we are at home, and a lot of photos from the trips when we are travelling. There may still be films from time to time, but probably the main focus will be on photos. And I've started experimenting with Insta Stories... What do you think of the plans? Do you have any tips for me?

I started my Insta when we went to South Africa in 2015 as a little contact with those back home. It has continued since then. I find it easy and unpretentious. However, I've been thinking about Insta Stories, I think it's fun with little film clips...
I have never had FB. Blog and Instagram will have to suffice.

Welcome to Instagram. I am a bit more periodic on Instagram with my account reiselinda. It becomes more when I am travelling, but tries to keep going even from home. I think it's fun with people who make good stories and test a little myself too, let's see how it develops!

I understand that many people switch to Instagram and/or supplement their blogs with Insta. There it is just to click on the little heart. Few comments there. So much easier to get "response" without having to "make an effort" as a reader. But I wish you good luck. You are so very good at everything you do on social media. I myself am content with my blog. Like to write and comment, and that opportunity does not exist on Insta, at least not as I want to "express" myself.
