TUI offers "Covid care" to all guests

In line with the increased demand for travel to Greece and Spain, among others, the demand for safe travel is increasing. TUI therefore offers all customers travelling in 2020 a specially developed safety service, "COVID Care", which applies in the event of COVID-19. COVID Care is automatically included in every booking and covers costs for COVID-19 tests, medical assistance or repatriation if required for medical reasons. If customers need to isolate themselves, the service covers accommodation for the extended period and a new flight home.

Air Gotland receives flight tickets from BRA

The newly launched Gotland airline AirGotland has recently started operating. Ticket sales have started and the reception is very positive, according to the company. One of the most frequently asked questions is whether AirGotland accepts tickets from the airline BRA, which is now in reorganisation. The company has accepted the requests. "We have no agreement with BRA on redemption, but have found a solution that is very favourable to the customer and allows us to get customers to test fly with us."

From May, Air Leap has announced that it is expanding with 8 new routes from Arlanda, Bromma and Visby. The latest investment is the destinations Gothenburg, Malmö and Ängelholm from Bromma. Since the lifting of travel restrictions, Air Leap has seen an increase in passenger numbers of over 70 per cent compared to the previous year.

Fewer bankruptcies but still tough for the hotel and restaurant sector

UC's statistics show that bankruptcies in July decreased by five per cent compared with the same month last year. The hotel and restaurant industry is still struggling and bankruptcies in this segment have increased by 22 per cent. Overall, bankruptcies in Sweden have increased by 11 per cent so far this year. There is still great uncertainty about the bankruptcy situation this autumn, and how the authorities' call for continued work from home will affect it. As a consequence of the pandemic, the Swedes' propensity to "swarm" has been strong, but no major upswing for the industry segment is visible yet.

Reflection of the week

It is understandable that the travel industry continues to struggle. Apparently, in some places it is difficult even for the domestic tourism industry. Where we have travelled this summer, however, it has been packed with tourists!
