Record number of visitors in April
We didn't expect a record number of visitors in April. Normally, we have the most visitors during the summer months, and previous records have been over 85,000 visitors per month.
Men visitors are increasing right now, even during the winter. In March 2021, we had around 30 per cent more visitors than in March 2020. And then came April ... wow! On the busiest day in April (11 April), we had almost 10,000 visitors in just one day.

On 30 April, the figures were fast approaching 100 000 visitors for the whole month. Imagine if we were to reach a 6-figure number of visitors in a single month! Peter counted the hours and came to the conclusion that it was maybe, maybe could be possible ... but difficult!
We decided to boost a bit by sharing some of the latest posts in a few extra Facebook groups, and by sponsoring a small number of posts with a small amount of money on Facebook. Then it was time for a night out!
Once an hour we checked the statistics. 98,500, 99,000, 99,500... Would we have a chance? I (Helena) suggested we watch a film, but Peter couldn't handle it, haha. He was on pins and needles.
What were the results for April?
We never reached 100,000, to be precise. At 24:00 the counter stopped at 99,915. Peter muttered something sour (not to be quoted) and went to bed.
When we woke up to a new day, we could agree that this result is really nothing to sulk about but on the contrary, it is absolutely fantastic! Without exaggerating, we can tell you that our record number of visitors per month (slightly rounded) is 100 000 people. The number of page views during this period was 179 124.
Who are the readers?
So who are these 100,000 people who visited in April? We can tell you a bit more about that, based on statistics from Google Analytics!
Where readers live
Of the readers who visited us in April, almost 95 per cent logged in from Sweden, which is not surprising as we write in Swedish. The next largest number (1.5 per cent) logged in from Finland, where there is a Swedish-speaking minority. The most common locations were Stockholm, Gothenburg, undefined, Malmö and Västerås, which is probably due to the fact that these are large cities with many people.
This is how old the readers are
It is very clear that we have a slightly older audience. The largest group that visited in April was 65 years or older, and the second largest group was between 55 and 64 years. It is perhaps a little surprising that the 25-34 age group was larger than the 35-44 age group ... but perhaps it is the case that the latter group is very busy with family and career?

Anyone who is active always has something to say. I think it's fun to write and see the response. I am the same way, I set goals, some for a year or two in the future, others for this day or this week. Of course, I check how things are going far too often. I remember the first cake decorated with 50,000... My next goal is 2 million views (not visits).

A different reader - I live in the US, am 93 years old, don't like caravans and the like, but, the last six months have been wonderful for me. I have learnt so much about central Sweden, not to mention all the beautiful natural areas around Stockholm. It has been geography and history at its best.
