There are few things as wonderful as travelling. Experiencing new places, meeting new people and exploring new cultures is something that most people find adds to their lives. While most things about travelling are positive, there are some aspects that are not so fun.

One of the most annoying things about travelling is the amount of dead time spent waiting for transport, check-in, etc. Fortunately, our ability to pass that dead time is better than ever before.

Here are our tips for simple but effective pastimes while travelling:

Play games

A lot can be said about smartphones and having a screen in front of our face at all times, but it's hard to deny that the games we have available on our devices are not great at combating boredom. With our mobile phones, we can play everything from fast-paced and advanced games to simple and tricky ones, or games in online casinos (on the CasinoFeber you can find examples on most gambling sites) if you prefer.

Almost all online casinos today are well adapted to be played on mobile phones, and also have games that can be played for short periods of time, making it a great option when travelling. When it comes to other mobile games, you are probably well aware of how many great options you have to choose from in the app store.

Of course, it doesn't have to be digital games that you spend your time with. For example, don't underestimate a good old-fashioned card game - it can keep you and others entertained for hours if necessary.

Read a book

Many people find it difficult to relax and find peace in their everyday life, which means that all those books they bought are mostly gathering dust on the bookshelf. Since you leave your everyday life behind when you go travelling, it's perfect to pick up a book or two in your hand luggage. It's simply a great opportunity to relax and catch up on all those books.

If you still find it difficult to focus on reading, there's nothing to stop you from listening to an audiobook instead. That is, if it's even a book you want to consume. If it's documentaries or entertainment you're after, there are also podcasts for all tastes.

Write down your experiences

Don't want to read a book? Then perhaps writing one would be more appropriate? This isn't a pastime for everyone, but if you're the kind of person who enjoys writing - or just likes sorting out your thoughts - then it's not a bad idea to keep some kind of travel diary.

Sometimes it can be nice to just take a few minutes here and there to gain enough perspective to appreciate all the things you actually experience while travelling. If you save your notes, it can also be something invaluable to revisit later in life.

Listening to music

Listening to music, can it really be described as a pastime - we do it all the time, right? Well, most of us do, but you can still make it something special when you're travelling. For example, you can take the time to listen through entire albums like they used to do, or explore brand new artists and their catalogues.

You could also listen to music that is somehow related to your destination. Either through songs about the place or songs written by artists from there.

Whatever you choose to listen to, it's likely to be songs you'll associate with the trip for the rest of your life. In other words, it may be worth putting some extra thought into your choices.

Of course, there are thousands of things you can do to pass the time, but the four tips above are easy for most people to do and at least one of them works in almost any context.
