New caravan park - and every second Swede wants to go camping

Sifo: One in two Swedes attracted by motorhome or caravan holidays

More than one in two Swedes (55 %) can imagine going on holiday with a motorhome, and for four in ten (39 %) it would be a completely new experience. This is according to a Sifo survey conducted by motorhome and caravan dealer Forsbergs Fritidscenter. The greatest interest in a motorhome or caravan is among 18-34 year olds (60 %). Eight out of ten (80 %) agree that it is the freedom that is most attractive, followed by the possibility of doing various activities (44 %) and the fact that it is affordable (31 %).

New car park in Gränna

Gränna is a popular place for motorhomers. The town is charming, and you are close to the ferry to the centre. Visingsö and there is a well-located car park in the harbour. However, during the high season it can get crowded and now a new car park has opened, not far from the other one. The new site is called "Gränna gästplats" and is located at Amiralsvägen 50. The site's slogan is "a bit more than a caravan site", and it includes a camperclean machine for emptying the toilet cassette. You can read more at gastplatsgranna.se.

A cup of coffee makes the Uppsala-Stockholm train journey even better

To enhance the travelling experience on trains without a bistro, SJ has tested offering a free cup of coffee between Uppsala and Stockholm. Stockholm on an SJ monthly ticket or single ticket in 1 class. The response from travellers has been so strong that the test is now being made permanent. Those with a ticket that includes a cup of coffee will receive a text message before the journey with a QR value code that can be redeemed at Pressbyrån. Travellers with a monthly pass will receive the value code the evening before the period begins and travellers with a single ticket will receive the value code on the day of travel.

ForSea publishes its Sustainability Report for 2021

The shipping company ForSea, which operates the ferry line Helsingborg-Helsingör, has published its sustainability report for 2021, which includes the following:

  • 70 % CO2 reduction already in 2022
  • In 2021, Aurora has sailed 92.5 % of its voyages in battery power. CO2 emissions decreased by 54 % compared to the base year 2016.
  • 42 % of reduced energy consumption compared to the base year 2016 and 19 % compared to 2020.
  • The share of certified ingredients in restaurants increased from 13 % to the current 18.69 % in 2021.
  • Of the total amount of waste, 32 tonnes were organic waste, which is sent for the production of biogas and bio-fertiliser.
  • In 2021, all single-use fossil plastic materials were phased out and all products for customers are produced from bio-based or recycled plastic.

Swedavia opens another terminal at Arlanda Airport - new efforts to manage queues

Swedavia is now improving capacity at Arlanda ahead of the summer by opening another terminal - on 15 June Terminal 4 will go back into operation. At the same time, major recruitment and operational efforts are being made to ease the queue situation at the airport. Despite gradually improved conditions, Swedavia expects the challenge of periodically long queues to remain during the summer as the number of travellers increases further.

Reflection of the week

It is not surprising that many Swedes are attracted to motorhomes and caravans. However, it is surprising that it is the younger rather than the older people who are most interested.
