Bilprovningen: Serious flaws in one in five caravans.

Of the nearly 19,000 caravans inspected by Bilprovningen in 2022, three out of ten had defects. The most common (19 per cent) were remarks against components in the brake system. Another common fault is that the push-on device, which has a limited movement, starts to work too late when braking. Car testing tips for the camping season:

  • Check the tyres: tread depth, cracks, damage, age and air pressure.
  • Check the brakes and have them serviced if necessary.
  • Check the lights and the trailer plug.
  • Check the condition of the batteries.
  • Check that the ventilation is working.
  • When parking and camping, protect the tyres from sunlight.
  • Ensure that the caravan has been inspected and passed a gas test.
