Apollo launches trips to Tunisia

On 26 June, the former favourite will make the Tunisia comeback on Apollo. Tunisia was long one of Apollo's most popular destinations, and now it is announced that the country is finally back on the programme. Already on 26 June, Apollo's first package trip from Arlanda to Tunisia will go. Currently, the season lasts until the end of October, but the tour operator is looking at the possibility of offering the destination all year round. In Tunisia, Apollo offers two holiday resorts: Sousse and Hammamet.

Last-minute travel prices fall due to the heatwave

Due to record high demand, a weak krona and high fuel prices, travelling abroad this year has so far been an expensive affair. In the last two weeks, however, there has been a break in the trend, and prices for last-minute trips to classic summer destinations around the Mediterranean have fallen by up to 31 per cent. Right now it is possible to get a whole week's holiday with direct flights and mid-range hotels to, among other things Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria for less than SEK 3,000 per person. This is reported by Ticket.

Littering in the mountains is increasing

What is hidden in the snow comes out in the thaw. This was something that SkiStar's employees learnt when, for the second year in a row, they organised a rubbish collection day at all six destinations in Sweden. Norway. Despite increased information, the amount of sashes collected this year increased from six to almost eight tonnes, an increase of 36% compared to last year. According to a new survey by Keep Sweden Tidy and SkiStar, the most common types of rubbish were plastics (mainly bag closures and candy wrappers), cigarette butts and snuff bottles.

Viking Line launches biofuel as an optional extra

Viking Line is the first shipping company on the Baltic Sea to launch the opportunity to buy renewable biofuel that corresponds to the journey's consumption. This reduces the journey's emissions by almost 90 per cent. From 21 June 2023, Viking Line's passengers on the Stockholm-Åland-Åbo route can buy biogas. On a cruise between Stockholm and Turku, the price supplement is about SEK 50.

Jambo Tours invests in Jordan

This autumn Jambo Tours, the only major Nordic tour operator, is investing heavily in weekly arrangements to Jordan. With direct flights from Stockholm, the flight with Royal Jordanian Airlines takes less than 5 hours and the arrival time is comfortable. This allows for arrangements that start immediately after arrival in Amman or, with a short, easy change of plane in Amman, take travellers on to the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. The initiative starts on 16 October and basically offers two travel packages, both of which are eight days and seven nights.

TUI launches new charter destination from Växjö and Luleå

This winter, it will be possible to choose even more destinations from Växjö Småland Airport as well as from Luleå Airport. TUI is launching charters to the popular Canary Island of Tenerife from these two airports.

  • From Växjö: Four flights between 21 November 2023 and 12 March 2024, departing on Tuesdays.
  • From Luleå: Six flights between 7 November and 26 March departing on Tuesdays.

Reflection of the week

Fun that Apollo launches charter trips to Tunisia, where we are right now! Now you can travel here both regularly (direct flights every Monday with Nouvelair) and by charter. We are exploring the charter destinations Hammamet and Sousse during our current trip in the country and will return with reports!
