Motorhome life, we love it! There are many ways to travel - and we love many of them - but RVing still holds a special place in our hearts. Motorhome life offers freedom... and we like that!

Great overnight pitches for your motorhome

We have found such incredible night spots for the motorhome here in France! Not every night, perhaps. Sometimes it is much more ordinary, in some relatively poor car park or parking space. But in between ... oh, what places! Among other things, we have stood next to various rivers, and there is something special about water, isn't there?

If you're wondering how we find the night spots, it's through various apps. We use:

  • CamperContact - Useful for finding campsites and pitches on a map.
  • Park4Night - Good for finding easy overnight parking spaces, as well as for lunch stops, visiting cities stops and the like.
  • Camping-Car Park - A fairly new app for us, where you can find and even book pitches in France.

Below, you can see pictures from some of our recent night sites...

Upside down signs

Travelling through France, we see a lot of beautiful nature and many charming villages. Most of the villages have signs with the village names upright, but the occasional village has the name upside down. According to what we have learnt so far, this means that the village is unhappy about something and wants to demonstrate its dissatisfaction

The delicious food of France

We really enjoy the great food in France! Do we often eat out in restaurants? No, not at all! We are travelling for a long time, and we have to keep to a budget. But we shop in French supermarkets and we enjoy delicacies such as wines, cheeses and pâtés.

We find that food prices in general (with the exception of some touristy shops) are very good. A perfectly ok table wine, for example, can be bought for 25 kroner in the supermarket ... !

In Dijon, we bought a bunch of little jars of different flavours of mustard and we're trying them out, one by one... They're all delicious! However, some flavours (such as "blackcurrant mustard") are slightly more difficult to combine ...

There are a lot of baguettes, cheeses and sausages ... but sometimes you want hot cooked food too! Peter loves to browse through the dishes, which have included dishes with cod and chicken, along with various delicious vegetables. And yes, Peter has brought his sous vide!

Best this week

Best this week! It's travelling in the motorhome, finally having a somewhat slower pace and having the opportunity to catch up on backlogged tasks. We are really enjoying France, with its beautiful nature and good food!

Your turn ... what is the most positive aspect of the week?

The week ahead

We continue our motorhome journey in France! We've made it to Bordeaux, and we'll also be exploring the coastline outside this city. Here on FREEDOMtravel, you can expect more reports on France, interspersed with reports by our other writers, from all corners of the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Friday and weekend!
