Halmstad is "Sweden's most motorhome-friendly municipality" in 2024
The members of Husbilsklubben.se have voted for Halmstad as "Sweden's most motorhome-friendly municipality". It is Sweden's and the Nordic region's largest association for motorhome owners, which for the twelfth time is awarding the prize to the municipality voted for by its members. The motivation states, among other things: "Halmstad is a lovely summer town with a lovely beach. There are good bus connections to Tylösand and other places."

What separates Swedes and Finns on the Finnlines ferry
At the beginning of last year, Finnlines deployed two new vessels on the Sweden - Finland, which has led to increased interest. Swedish bookings for the summer have already increased by 55 per cent compared to last year.
Both Swedes and Finns travel with Finnlines, but there are some differences on board - especially in what they buy. Swedes opt for sweet sweets, whiskey and Italian wines. Finns prefer salted liquorice, cognac and Spanish wines.

Visit Värmland launches dating-inspired campaign
Five quick questions. A flirty introduction. And suddenly you've matched with a café, a hiking trail or a museum. Visit Värmland has launched a campaign website where you match yourself to your next Värmland holiday destination.
The new site asks users to answer five quick questions about their preferences. They are then shown suggestions for suitable places to visit. Each place has its own dating profile with pictures and a flirty introductory text - and when you match, you get a message to get to know the place even better.

More Swedes choosing cruises this summer
Ahead of the summer of 2025, interest in cruises abroad has increased significantly. New booking statistics from the travel agency Ticket show an increase of over 41 per cent compared to the same period last year. This is also confirmed in the travel agency's latest survey, where the proportion of people who prefer cruises as a type of trip abroad has increased from 4 to 12 per cent since last year.
This summer, the Mediterranean is the main attraction, with popular destinations such as Barcelona, Rome and the Greek archipelago. During the winter, many Swedes turn to the Caribbean instead.

Coolcations are on the rise
Last year's record-breaking heatwaves in southern Europe have led to changing travel patterns. More and more people are choosing to avoid extreme temperatures and instead holiday in cooler destinations. This spring, Hotels.com has seen a clear increase in travel to cooler destinations, both globally and among Swedish travellers. Swedish searches have increased to, among others Iceland, Switzerland and Norway. The cool destinations that increased the most in Swedish searches:
- Reykjavik (Iceland) - 45 %
- Vik in Myrdal (Iceland) - 15 %
- Bergen (Norway) - 30 %
- Trondheim (Norway) - 20 %
- Cardiff (Wales) - 15 %
- Abisko (Sweden) - 40 %
- Zermatt (Switzerland) - 40 %
- Innsbruck (Austria) - 30 %
- Cornwall (England) - 305 %
- Dingle (Ireland) - 715 %

Overtourism not a problem in Sweden
Swedes have a very positive attitude towards tourism and many want their home town to do more to attract more tourists. This is shown by an attitude survey commissioned by Visit Sweden. The positive attitude towards tourists is also found in Sweden's most visited city, Stockholm, according to a citizens' panel conducted in November 2024 by the Origo Group.
During last year's high season for tourism in Sweden: May-August, the proportion of occupied rooms in relation to available rooms in commercial accommodation in Sweden was: May: 58 per cent, June: 57 per cent, July: 68 per cent and August: 64 per cent, according to the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth's accommodation data.

Reflection of the week
Wow, what a party it seems to be at Unda Camping! It's also great that Halmstad has been named the most motorhome-friendly municipality of the year! Have you been there?
We knew that liquorice is popular in Finland. What we didn't know was that our neighbours to the east prefer Spanish wines and cognac to Italian wines and whiskey. Do you recognise this?

Only British says:
Cornwall doesn't surprise me but Cardiff? There must be more behind this. Swedes are crazy in Scotland and in Wales the castles in the north usually attract more or at least the beaches in Rhossili and Tenby. Hm...weird.
