We visited Matka - Northern Europe's largest travel fair. On 21-24 January, the doors opened at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre to 1000 exhibitors from 80 countries. Camilla Gunnarsson often goes camping in her caravan with her husband Anders and 13-year-olds Matilda and Anton. But their favourite season is not summer, but winter! You might think that Camilla and her family are "those people who have always gone winter camping and skiing", but that's not the case at all. When we were in Turku we visited Koulu, or "Skolan" as it is called in Swedish. It doesn't sound like much fun, but the old girls' school now houses a brewery and a restaurant, and here we got to take part in a beer tasting!

Yesterday we visited the Art Bank art museum, which turned out to have some real surprises. The day before yesterday we tried some of the most typical winter activities in the Turku archipelago: ice fishing and sauna bathing. Yesterday it was time to continue exploring the archipelago outside Turku. We started in Korpo, where a barefoot trail in the forest offered unexpected surprises. Then we went to an art museum with an impressive collection in Pargas.

At lunchtime yesterday we landed at Helsinki airport. It was not quite as cold as we had been warned, but minus degrees, wintry and sunny. It's time for The Nordic Bloggers Experience - a whole week in Finland with a pre-tour to the Turku archipelago, a travel blogger conference and Northern Europe's largest travel fair. We have a lot of exciting (and interesting!) things to look forward to... and we've done our best to pack right!
