Now we have arrived in the nice town of Alghero. But the day started by driving to the far end of the Stintino peninsula in north-west Sardinia. There should be many beautiful beaches ... and there probably are. But here in July, it is BOTH difficult to find space on the beach AND difficult to find space to park the motorhome. We continue to explore Sardinia! Today we have driven a bit out on the cape in the northwest where the town of Stintino is located. There are supposed to be fantastic beaches here (we have only seen a small part yet) and outside is the island "Isola Asinara" (Donkey Island), which is a national park and where there are supposed to be wild albino donkeys.

Read moreAfter three days in 'internet shadow' on the wonderful island of La Maddalena off Sardinia (we blogged from the tourist office), we wanted a campsite with good WiFi. We drove to Centro Vacanze Isuledda in northern Sardinia, where we (so far) have an ACSI discount and pay 18 euros/day.
Read moreThe last night on the island of La Maddalena, it was free camping in Sardinia. The main reason was financial. (We have budgeted 20 euros/night during our Euopa trip and now that we are approaching the high season, most campsites cost more.) Once we stood there, watching the sun sink into the horizon from our door, we realised that there are so many more reasons to free camp!
Read moreLa Maddalena in Sardinia is a true holiday paradise. The archipelago, located on the northern side of Sardinia, is full of green areas, small bays and beautiful sandy beaches. There are also campsites, a number of smaller hotels and a small charming town - also called La Maddalena.
