Skaftö, or Skaftölandet as it may actually be called, is a charming island on the west coast, where you can visit Grundsund and Fiskebäckskil. We were a little unlucky with the weather when we were here, and yet we were struck by how cosy and picturesque it is in these places.

Updated: October 2026 | What is there to do on Dyrön in Bohuslän? We took the ferry from Rönnäng on Tjörn and spent a fantastic day on the car-free island. Here we hiked five kilometers along the Dyröleden trail, discovered the dramatic Dynes ravine and enjoyed the Bohuslän archipelago. Plus, we had shrimp sandwiches and egg cheese by the sea!

Carlsten Fortress on Marstrand is an exciting attraction, offering fascinating historical settings and compelling stories. The fortress has been taken twice, and famous prisoners have been imprisoned here, such as the famous Lasse-Maja.

The Öckerö Islands in the Gothenburg archipelago consist of about ten islands, four of which are connected by bridges: Fotö, Öckerö, Hönö and Hälsö. We took a ferry here with our motorhome and spent two nights in a real idyll.
