Why camp in Corsica?
Corsica has many fine campsites surrounded by beaches and greenery. There is also a small selection of pitches, sometimes in the form of simple car parks/nature campsites. With a campervan, you can experience a fantastic island, with winding mountain roads, sun and sea, prehistoric remains and both French and Corsican culture. Campsites and pitches in Corsica - from north to south
St Florent - Camping Kalliste
- Description: Nice, green and well maintained campsite with beach just outside and walking distance to the centre of St Florent.
- Service: Electricity (10 amps), water, waste disposal, grey and black water drainage, service building and restaurant with mini-shop.
- Price: Around €45/day with electricity in July 2025.
- Find hereRte de la Roya. Cross the bridge, heading from St Florent towards Calvi. Turn immediately right.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Citadel, Old Town and beaches. You can also take boat trips to the beaches of Lotu and Saleccia Beach.
St Florent - Camping U Pezzo
- DescriptionUnorganised but pleasant campsite with beach just outside and walking distance to the centre of St Florent.
- Service: Electricity (6 amps), water, waste disposal, grey and black water drainage, service building, simple restaurant and mini-shop.
- Price: Around €35/day with electricity in July 2025.
- Find hereRte de la Plage. Cross the bridge, heading from St Florent towards Calvi. Turn immediately right.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Citadel, Old Town and beaches. You can also take boat trips to the beaches of Lotu and Saleccia Beach.
North-west coast Camping de l'Ostriconi
- Description: Scenic and unorganised campsite, where you park wherever you want on a large green area. Walking distance to a beach, which was flooded when we were here.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building and possibility to rent a refrigerator
- Price: Around €40/day with electricity in June 2025.
- Find here: Route du bord de mer. Drive towards L'Ostriconi beach.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Sun and swimming on the beach.
Calvi - Camping Paduella
- Description: Large 3-star campsite with swimming pool and many shady spots under the pine trees. Walking distance to both beach and Calvi centre.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building, restaurant and small shop.
- Price: €36/day without electricity in June 2025.
- Find here: The campsite is just before Calvi, if you come from the north.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: The Citadel, the beaches, the Shaker train and more.
Porto - Camping Sole e Vista
- Description: Large campsite set on a steep slope, with swimming pool with magnificent views at the top. Please note that it is steep and narrow to drive on the campsite.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building, restaurant and WiFi only at reception.
- Price: €45/day without electricity in July 2025.
- Find here: Enter Porto from the north and turn left at the campsite sign.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Around Porto, you can experience dramatic mountain roads at Calanche di Piana.
Aleria - naturist campsite Riva Bella
- DescriptionLarge naturist campsite on a sandy beach on the east coast. Here you can stand right at the edge of the beach. There are also llamas on the campsite.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building, restaurant, spa and WiFi at extra cost.
- Price: 18 euros/day with ACSI discount in low season 2015.
- Find here: Drive towards Aleria, it is signposted to the campsite.
- Things to see and do in the neighbourhood: Naturist camping, beaches and llamas.
Ajaccio - Camping les Mimosas
- Description: Nice and well-kept campsite with large pitches. Good starting point if you want to visit Ajaccio, and also a good stop if you are just passing by.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service buildings and washing machines.
- Price: Around €30/day in July 2025.

- See and do in the neighbourhood: You can visit Corsica's capital Ajaccio, which is the birthplace of Napoleon.
Propriano - Camping Tikiti
- DescriptionLarge campsite in a hilly natural area just outside Propriano.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building, restaurant, swimming pool and WiFi (at extra cost).
- Price: 24 euros/day in the low season (June) 2015.
- Find here: Located just before Propriano if you come from the north.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: From here it is not too far if you want to visit the prehistoric site. Filitosa.
Porto-Vecchio - Naturist campsite La Chiappa
- Description: A well-run naturist campsite with both shady and sunny spots, nice beach, excellent service houses, very nice pools and also a wide range of activities. The only negative for us was that we had poor internet coverage.
- Service: Electricity (16 amps), water, waste disposal, grey and black water emptying, restaurant, snack bar, small shop, many different activities and WiFi at a WiFi spot.
- Price: Just over €50/day including electricity in July 2025.
- Find here: Drive out onto the Chiappa promontory off Porto-Vecchio.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: There is a beach for those who want to sunbathe and swim without clothes and various activities such as diving, boat hire and horse riding. You can also take the opportunity to experience the beautiful town of Porto-Vecchio.
Porto-Vecchio - Car park in Pini at Plage de palombaggia
- Description: Simple pitch/nature campsite in a shady area among trees, five minutes' walk from the beautiful beach of Plage de Palombaggia.
- Service: Single manned entrance, rubbish collection, outdoor showers, fresh water and the possibility to walk to a public toilet.
- Price: €10/day + €4 entrance fee (first day) in July 2025.
- Find here: Route de Palombaggia. Drive towards Plage de Palombaggia, easy to find on the right.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Fantastic beaches. You can also check out the pretty town of Porto-Vecchio.
Tizzano - Camping L'Avena
- Description: Nice campsite with many shady pitches, fresh service buildings, friendly staff and relatively short walk to go down to a nice beach.
- Service: Electricity, water, waste management, grey and black water drainage, service building and a simple restaurant.
- Price: €42/day with electricity in July 2025.
- Find here: Route De, Tizzano, Sartene
- Things to see and do in the neighbourhood: Fine sandy beach.
Bonifacio - Camping l'Araguina
- Description: Simple campsite with pitches on gravel, very central and well located for visiting Bonifacio. The campsite is on two sides of the road.
- Service: Electricity (16 amps), water, refuse collection, grey and black water drainage (certain times of the day), service building and a pizzeria.
- Price: 36 euros/day including electricity in July 2025
- Find hereAvenue Sylver Bohn, on the way into Bonifacio from the main road.
- See and do in the neighbourhood: Bonifacio with views and restaurants. You can also make a boat trip to the Lavezzi Islands and continue to Sardinia, by ferry Corsica to Sardinia.
Bonifacio: Sperone Camping des Iles
- DescriptionNice campsite within walking distance of the marina and the fantastic beaches at Sperone.
- Service: Service house, electricity and good place to empty/fill tanks. WiFi should be available for purchase, but did not work at all when we were there.
- Price: 21 euros/day incl. electricity in mid-season (June) 2015.

Driving to Corsica
- Ferries: There are many different departures and departure points, including with Corsica Ferries. We have travelled by ferry with a motorhome between Nice and Ilé Rousse (just over 5 hours) and between Nice and Bastia (approximately 6 hours).
Roads and driving in Corsica
- Roads: The roads are often narrow and you need to be prepared for potholes and bumps. On the west coast there are beautiful roads that drop steeply to the sea.
- Equipment in the car: You must bring your registration certificate, warning triangle and reflective vest.
- Words in traffic: "Rappel" means reminder. "Sens interdit" means prohibited direction of travel.
- Fuel: Diesel is called "gazole" or "gasoil", while petrol is called "essence" and is available in 95 and 98 octane.
- Parking rules: Yellow lines on the road mean no stopping and dashed yellow lines mean no parking. "Stationnement" means parking and "payant" means that it is subject to a charge.

Rules on camping and pitches in Corsica
- There are plenty of campsites and also occasional pitches/simple natural campsites in Corsica.
- The rules on free camping are very restrictive. The basic rule is that it is forbidden to free camp and those who do so risk heavy fines. However, sleeping overnight in a camper van in a marked parking space should be allowed, as long as there are no prohibition signs and as long as you do not engage in camping behaviour.
