Ferry Nice - Ile Rousse in Corsica! Early this morning we drove through a beautiful and slightly rose-coloured Nice. The beach, which lines the entire city, is lined with grand houses and a long row of tall palm trees. This city can certainly be nice to experience more of! We may experience Nice at another time. This time we chose to take the ferry to Corsica.
Towards Nice and Corsica
We couldn't find a pitch in the centre of Niceso we chose an affordable campsite a bit outside, in Villenueve Loubet. When we got there, it turned out that they can't open the gates before seven in the morning ... and then we would be trapped and miss the ferry. Instead, we went to another campsite nearby (Parc des Maurettes), which we didn't check the price of. You shouldn't do that!
Boring and expensive campsite
As we were leaving early in the morning, we were given a boring car park at the entrance/bin, which is so narrow that we can't even put the camping furniture outside. "Great, it will be cheap", we thought. Well, not exactly. On the contrary, it is the most expensive night since we left Sweden on 1 December 2014. For 28 euros we got a small gravel parking lot and a measly 3 amps of electricity. WiFi is available for a juicy extra cost.
We've been wondering why this campsite is so expensive, and it's hardly because of the rusty sinks, hole-in-the-floor toilets or crumbling pile of harvesting equipment from the last century. But maybe it could be because the train to Nice runs right outside? In the morning we left early for the 07:30 ferry.
Ferry Nice - Ile Rousse in Corsica
We drove to Nice and the small harbour with small boats. At first we thought it was wrong, because where can't a huge car ferry fit in? But yes, the big ferry that runs between Nice and Ile Rousse on Corsica was parked inside the harbour and we drove on.
The ferry from Corsica Sardinia Ferries felt relatively modern and fresh, and the five-hour journey was very calm over a calm sea. For those who are wondering, we can tell you that the price was about SEK 2000 for two adults and a motorhome, without a cabin.
And now we are in Corsica! We have driven through an intense green and mountainous landscape today, while chasing grocery stores and camping. Now we're exhausted after a long day... We'll tell you more tomorrow!

Nice is nice 🙂
When we were travelling from Barcelona to Rome (or to Rome's "port city" which is impossible to spell, let alone pronounce...) we saw a caravan with a sign saying "Camping on board". Lame sign, we thought at first, then it turned out to be true. They lived in the caravan on the car deck during the crossing. Very strange - usually you are not allowed to stay there at all when the boat has left the harbour. But practical, I think. We had a cabin - the tent was difficult to get up there on the car deck 😀.

Ama de casa, I've heard about that before, on some ferry between Greece and Italy or wherever. But I've never experienced it myself. We have always had to leave the motorhome, just as usual.
