Construction chaos and sunshine

It's Sunday and we're building and building. The irony is that when you renovate to make it look nice, it gets so terribly messy in the meantime. Right now we have stuff just everywhere. But I'm sure it will be fine in the end!

New ceiling light in the kitchen

Today we have been running around in construction and interior design stores, together with the rest of the Stockholm population, it feels like. We went to IKEA ... phew, what a pain to get through that store on a Saturday! We found nothing there, but in another store we made a really good find. It was a new ceiling lamp!

New wallpaper and new tiles in the kitchen

Now that we have heat in the boat, we can start focusing on some other things! We have wallpapered and started tiling in the kitchen. We've never been fond of white (even though we know you HAVE to like white), so the white walls are going away. We have wallpapered with a black and silver wallpaper with a high-rise motif.

New ideas for the kitchen

The kitchen was the room in the entire houseboat that was most prepared and most modern when we moved here. Many parts of the boat are original from the 1930s, but the kitchen was recently renovated. The previous owner had also chosen nice colours and nice appliances, we think.

We are currently in the process of replacing all the lights with LEDs to save energy.

LED lighting in the houseboat

We are gradually replacing all the lighting in the houseboat with LEDs. Electricity will be one of the major costs here, especially when the cold weather arrives. At least being able to light up the boat without having to worry about power consumption feels good. The LED lights are expensive to buy, but it feels like it will pay off in the long run.

New flooring - parquet flooring in the bedroom

Now we (read Peter) have laid new flooring in the big room on the lower deck, which means that we have parquet flooring in the summer room. At least it's almost done - just a small corner left as it turned out that we need one more package. Peter has laid many many floors in his life, but he says this was by far the worst.

New in the bathroom

After the weekend's construction in the houseboat, you might want to see some results? We have, among other things, modernised the bathroom. The old sink was so narrow that it was difficult to reach to wash. We have now installed new bathroom furniture with a new sink and a new mixer tap. We also bought a new toilet seat.
