Old houseboat - modern interior

In the beginning we thought we would choose a more old-fashioned style of interior design in the houseboat, but it has become more and more modern ... Right now we are fixing the clothing storage in our large "walk-in-closet", which is really just one end of our large room on the lower deck.

Our walk-in closet on the lower deck

"Walk-in closet" may be an overly fancy word, but it sounds good! What we're talking about is simply one end of the large room at the bottom of the boat, the room that doubles as a bedroom and exercise room. (Not to be confused with our little crawl-in closetthat is, the boiler room).

If anyone thought we've been slacking off since we came home from the Philippines, it's obviously wrong ... We've put up mirrored doors for our clothes hangers and fixed a new chest of drawers. As you can see, our old houseboat has been modernised. It's not what we originally intended, but we like it! What do you think?

Fire extinguishers on board the houseboat

We have now also installed two new fire extinguishers, a small black one by the front door and a large white one on the lower deck. Hopefully, we will never need to use them, but it feels important to have them just in case. And since they are going to be hanging there anyway, it doesn't hurt if they look a little nicer.

Nowadays, there are a few colours to choose from when it comes to fire extinguishers, so instead of a red one, we got a black and a white one. We like these two, both from Clas Ohlson.

We have also painted the houseboat.

We have also finished painting the lower deck, and it feels really good to be done with that. All walls that are not covered with wood panelling have been painted in the colour 'havsdimma' (sea mist), which is the same colour we have on the outside of the houseboat. We have also covered the steps between the kitchen and the lower deck with wall-to-wall carpet.

Peter, on the other hand, cannot be away from work for as long as he had planned, as he is needed back at work. So we will have to take care of what remains to be done in the evenings and at weekends... as usual.
