This summer looks set to be a 'swimming holiday' for much of the Swedish population, although many European countries are cautiously opening up to tourism. Here at home, several companies are investing in digital booking sites for those who want to camp or travel by motorhome.

Hollistay opens 'Airbnb' for campers

Last year saw the launch of Hollistay, which works like Booking.com for all 2,400 campsites in the Nordic region. Now they are also opening a similar Airbnb for camping, and will be the first in Europe to gather all types of camping guests, campsite owners and private landlords on the same platform.

Now, caravan sites, special destinations, restaurants, golf courses, hostels and individuals with extra space in their yard can also rent out a site to campers all year round. Bookings are made through the Hollistay platform, where anyone is welcome to register as a hirer or camper, free of charge.

Acamp - new digital booking service for motorhome campers

Acamp was born out of two entrepreneurs' frustration with the complicated and time-consuming process of finding and booking motorhome sites in Sweden. This is what Acamp writes in a press release. Co-founder of Acast and Metalcasino and former CEO of Spotify Norden Öjje Holt, together with colleague Paul Berggren, decided to do something about it.

Acamp is a digital service where motorhome campers can book and pay directly for a pitch, while giving landowners the opportunity to rent out pitches for a side income. Acamp will open for landowners in June and for motorhome campers in August, and you can already register your interest at www.acamp.com.

Green light for many lake fish - marine fish are getting worse

Many marine species are not doing well, with cod in the Skagerrak and Kattegat receiving a red light in the Fish Guide 2020. However, things look brighter for Swedish inland water species. Fish such as whitefish, char, perch and trout are given a green light. This is according to WWF's consumer guide for fish and seafood, released on 28 May. The Fish Guide, WWF's consumer guide to seafood, helps consumers, shops and restaurants to make more sustainable choices. The guide is available digitally and via app.
