Our Christmas celebrations in 2021

Our Christmas celebrations this year were not quite as planned, but still good. On Christmas Eve, we were supposed to meet up with family and friends, but that celebration was cancelled due to a cold among some people and thus concerns about contagion. Instead, we celebrated a quiet Christmas Eve at home. We were a bit tired of Christmas food, so we chose to cook something completely different. It was reindeer fillet with baked potatoes. Really good!

On Christmas Day Robin and Alexandra (Peter's eldest son and wife) and our friends Lennart and Beata came, and on Boxing Day we visited my (Helena's) mum, where we also met my brother and one of his sons.

On Christmas Day we had fillet of lamb with mashed potatoes. For "dessert", however, there were only some tiny date balls. A little later in the evening we had a real cheese feast - lots of different cheeses together with biscuits, marmalade, pears and figs. Not bad at all!

Time to say goodbye to 2021

And now we have reached the last day of the year. It was another pandemic year, but in spite of that we thought we had a nice Motorhome and travel year 2021, travelling both in Sweden and around the world. We visited three new countries (Bulgaria, Turkey and Tunisia) and familiarised ourselves with the southern parts of Sweden.

Time to celebrate the new year

Now it is time to celebrate the new year. Even this celebration will be different than planned. We should have cooked together with friends. Last year we cooked a New Year's menu with 8 small dishes together, and we had intended to do something similar this year. But a cold in the neighbourhood (not covid) put an end to the plans, and it will be a quiet New Year's Eve at home instead. However, we are looking forward to cooking some good food and cosying up in front of someone. fantasy series on the TV!

Best this week

In the last week we have had the chance to get a lot of work done. I (Helena) have finished two project jobs and we have had time to take care of some other things that need to be done. That always feels good. Now we look forward to the new year!

The week ahead

We start 2022 by being at home in Stockholm. If we get the chance, we'll probably check out one of the many museums we have left to see here in the city. After we wrote our guide to Stockholm it became clear to us what we haven't seen yet. On the blog, we will probably also highlight both Swedish castles and Swedish cities. We hope you'll join us for the first week of 2022 - and the rest of the year.

We wish you a Happy New Year!
