FREEDOMtravel themed roads - inspiration for self-drive holidays

In March 2023 we will launch FREEDOMtravel themed routeswhich can be easily found in the menu on freedomtravel.co.uk. The theme roads are for everyone who likes to drive on holiday, by car, motorhome, caravan or perhaps motorcycle, and who wants to see and experience a lot along the way. Along the theme roads there are lots of tips on destinations, sights and activities, for both young and old.

FREEDOMtravel themed roads always describe a route, which is first shown on a map, along with information about the start and stops and the total length of the road in kilometres. We then suggest a number of stops along the way, along with descriptive text, photos, a map and possibly a link to further reading. We also present tips on where to stay overnight, whether you prefer a hotel/hostel, campsite or caravan site.

The traveller can choose whether to follow the whole route or just a part of it. The themed route serves as inspiration for those travelling on their own. You can follow the route from A to Z. If you prefer, you can follow the route in reverse order, start in the middle, or just pick out a few highlights.

The themed routes are presented by FREEDOMtravel, in co-operation with, among others Acamp, where you can find caravanning, camping, tenting and unique accommodation in Europe.

Themed roads in Sweden, Germany, Poland and other countries

So far there are themed roads in Sweden, Germany and Poland. Among the Swedish thematic paths you will find, for example, routes through different landscapes, but also routes that focus on castles or Unesco World Heritage sites, for example.

On the page with German thematic paths so far, we present tips and descriptions of existing German holiday routes in Swedish, along with links to German sites that provide further information about the routes. When it comes to Polish themed roads there is currently one road, which runs along the beautiful Baltic Sea coast.

So far, there are a limited number of themed roads, but the number will be continuously expanded. In addition, thematic roads will be added in the Czech Republic, Croatia and many other European countries. In total, we aim to publish around 50 themed roads in 2023.
