New registrations of caravans and motor homes decrease

New registrations of both caravans and motorhomes are declining, according to the Swedish Caravan and Motorhome Association. Despite this, interest in mobile accommodation is at record levels. Svensk Camping (SCR) states in its latest member survey that the industry is heading for another record year and that the booking situation is better or just as good this year compared to last year. Sales of second-hand vehicles are also still going well.

  • Caravan registrations June 2023: 231 caravans (corresponding month last year: 461 caravans)
  • Motorhome registrations June 2023: 343 camper vans (corresponding month last year: 528 camper vans)

Swedes' favourite destinations this summer

Malaga, Alicante and Majorca are leading the way as the most popular destinations, according to travel agency Tickets' latest booking statistics. This summer, many Swedes are choosing to explore Europe, attracted by convenient direct flights, historical sights and culinary experiences. This is where Swedes are travelling this summer:

Unsdagar becomes annual summer event in Helsingborg

Last summer, Unsdagar premiered in Helsingborg and now the popular event is back. On 26 July, the season premiere of Unsdagar takes place and four Wednesdays in a row, HBG City invites Helsinki citizens and visitors to treat themselves to a summer evening with entertainment by local musicians and profiles at Konsul Trapps plats.

Nature hosts are back in Halland

After last year's success, Visit Halland's nature hosts are back to put Halland on the map by helping visitors discover new places. In the summer of 2022, five nature hosts were hired in Halmstad as a test. The initiative came from Visit Halland and was very successful. This year the project is being expanded and sixteen nature hosts have been recruited and are in place in Halmstad, Varberg and Hylte during weeks 26-32.

Gallerian in Stockholm opens tourist hub

The mall, located in the centre of Stockholm, opens a tourist hub providing Stockholmers and visitors with tips on what to see and do during the summer in Stockholm. During the period 17 July - 20 August, a tourist hub will be available in the main entrance of the Gallery. Visitors can get a tourist guide and Stockholm map with tips on various activities and attractions in Stockholm city centre.
