New year and new plans! So, what are our travel plans for 2024? As usual, we don't know exactly. A few things are nailed down, while the rest is half-planned or at the dream stage.

Travel plans for 2024
Here we present our travel plans for 2024, as they currently stand. Some of these trips will happen and some won't - and others may be added. Perhaps we should call it the year's travel ideas instead...
South Africa
Our big winter trip, which is pretty much the only thing in our planning that is safe, goes to South Africa. We are travelling at the end of January and staying for about a month and a half. We will be visiting a South African couple we met in the Philippines last year and travelling around the country. Towards the end of the trip, we will meet and hang out with Peter's eldest son Robin and his wife Alexandra, as they will be attending a wedding in South Africa. This will be exciting!
Zimbabwe/Zambia
I slutet av Sydafrika-resan planerar vi att ta oss till Victoria Falls, på gränsen mellan Zimbabwe och Zambia, tillsammans med Robin och Alexandra. Detta ser vi verkligen fram emot!
Lithuania
It looks like we have a collaboration, of a slightly different nature, that will take us to Lithuania this spring. We'll tell you more when it's all planned and finalised.
Uzbekistan
We visited Samarkand in Uzbekistan last year, reporting from the World Tourism Organisation's General Assembly. We have a plan to discover even more of this exciting country, but nothing is finalised yet.
Azores
We have long been curious about the Azores, located in the Atlantic Ocean and belonging to Portugal, and we have an idea to try to get there in the spring. Whether it will happen or not, we don't know yet.
Värmland, Dalarna, Hälsingland
Later in the spring, and during the summer, we plan to travel with the motorhome. Right now we have our sights set on Värmland, Dalarna and Hälsingland. This is an almost white spot on our map, so we are very much looking forward to seeing more of this part of Sweden.
Norway
Norway perhaps? This is a very vague plan. Possibly our South African friends will come to Sweden in the late summer and possibly we will do some travelling together. It could be in Sweden. It would also be exciting to see Norway together with them.
Elmia exhibition
On 11-15 September 2024 it is time for the Elmia Husvagn Husbil fair in Jönköping. We will once again be there with Destination Square - that is, a hall focusing on travel destinations, with both exhibitors and speakers.
Egypt
We have long dreamed of seeing more of Egypt. The temptation is Alexandria, Cairo and a cruise on the Nile. Will we be able to pull this trip together? We don't know yet, but it would be amazing!
Travel plans for 2024 - which will change over time
That said, our travel plans for 2024 will probably change over time. It will not be exactly as we envision it right now. Some destinations may be dropped - some others may be added. We'll let you know when we know more, and of course you can also follow us on Instagram at @freedomtravelnews.

Sounds exciting! We are spending 1 month in Cartagena right now before we go home to Medellin again. This spring we are going to Bogota, maybe a trip to Pablo Escobar's house which is now a zoo and we want to see Costa Rica.

Exciting destinations as usual. The son was at Victoria Falls last autumn and looked happy in the pictures. The Azores have celebrated New Year, a different experience in the middle of the Atlantic with exciting nature and fragrant hot springs. Feel free to stop in Nora on the way to neighbouring Värmland and I can show you more experiences and better weather 🇸🇪👍.

Sounds like a good start to this year's travel planning🤩. Magdalena has just come home from a 3.5 week trip in Thailand and Vietnam, so she gets to be home a little now😉. My family and I have plans to go to Zanzibar in February, so I hope that happens. Then 2024 is actually an unwritten leaf for me, but it will, as you say, fall into a few pieces when this year's holiday days okejats☺️./ Pernilla

Lovely 😊 Would love to follow you on another Uzbekistan trip. Or maybe I'll even go there myself 😁 I haven't started planning a single trip yet, but I'm thinking possibly the following:
- Belgium or Scotland or Stockholm in spring
- summer trip to Austria-Germany or Norway? Wondering if you dare to consider travelling to Southern Europe longer in the summer with their super heat, otherwise Italy or Greece would also have been something... Maybe northern Italy feels a little safer.
- autumn trip to Jordan/Uzbekistan/any African country/Malaysia/Vietnam?? Nobody knows, feels so far away in the future 😁😅?

Exciting and interesting! There are plans, but my health makes travelling outside the EU difficult.
I have visited the Azores and remember the beautiful nature with all the greenery. And lots of humidity. Well worth a trip. Yes, most trips offer a lot of most things. Both positive and sometimes a little negative.
Many years ago we made a cruise on the Nile and at the same time a trip through historical Egypt. Absolutely memorable.

Christmas with Africa, it's been a dream for a long time!
I rest a little in the Skåne cold after my autumn trip in the motorhome. Been on the road since 15 September. Croatia, Greece, Italy, the Alps, Västerbotten and now Höllviken Skåne.
It will be the summer at Solhejdan of course, then the plan is to take over the motorhome to the Canary Islands next winter.

Värmland and Dalsland have a lot to offer. A place that we have visited several times and will do again is Brattforsheden old war airfield. There is nothing there except a dry toilet at the car park. We like to fricampa a lot and there you can stand in several different places, hike and in the autumn pick berries.
When we were there in the summer of 2022, the café was open with young people in military clothing working there.
Karlstad is also a beautiful place, including the Lars Lerin Museum.
I have a cousin who lives in Portugal and I would like to visit him sometime.
As things stand, we will probably stay in Sweden this year.

Oh how many exciting destinations. Especially South Africa, Zambia and Uzbekistan. White spots on our map. So looking forward to following you there. Our travel plans are still a blank slate. But we long for Greece and to return to Mexico. We haven't been to Macedonia for a long time. Hope you have a fabulous 2024 ♡.

What a wonderful year of travelling you are planning! Of course you get to see whole families of elephants in South Africa. We visited Addo Elephant Park and about 40 elephants came to the water hole to drink in the evening. Victoria Falls is also really worth seeing.
The Azores also has a wonderful nature, even though it's almost 20 years since I was there, a place I would love to visit again....

Sounds like a really exciting plan, especially the trip to South Africa. Perfect with friends that you have met in the Philippines who can "show you around". Exciting to travel together with Peter's son and wife. South Africa has a lot of vineyards too that you can visit;-)
As for Norway, one can always hope that the Swedish krona will strengthen, because Norway is not a "cheap" country to holiday in.
Uzbekistan is still very active in its marketing on the BBC. They really want to attract tourists from the EU. And I understand that.
I have only heard positive things about Lithuania. I would hold off on Egypt. Thinking about the war going on in the area.

Sounds like exciting trips! I am also very keen to go to the Azores. And have a little longing for Norway too, have started talking to a friend about possibly trying to get a trip to Lofoten during the year.

Nice also with Värmland and Dalarna. We did a nice road trip in Värmland during the pandemic. And Dalarna is always Dalarna. We have hung out there a lot. Very nice!
